Just a heads up about campgrounds opening at state parks in Colorado:
https://cpw.state.co.us/aboutus/Pages/News-Release-Details.aspx?NewsID=7362

It will be interesting to see just how busy all of these places are given the cabin fever that so much of Colorado is experiencing. I am looking forward to getting more off grid when I go out. I anticipate a really crazy year at most relatively accessible campgrounds.

Oooo I'll make sure to tell all of my Cali 4x4 bros that Moab is open for business and they all should go there ASAP 🤣

(Not really. I know hardly anyone out here who 4x4s and is cool like all of you guys.)

Sounds like we're close to the end. Polis is anticipating ski resorts might be able to open for June skiing this year and Rocky Mountain National Park should be opening again soon:

🤞🏻

As of yesterday afternoon's public townhall with my facility's administration, we're going to continue mandatory telework until the county lifts the stay home order. It looks like we're a long way off from that here because cases are still steadily increasing primarily among ag workers. And then after that, we will go to maximum telework where the only people through the gate will be those who have a good reason to be on site. They're working now on how we can hold some of our bigger sessions with social distancing procedures and mandatory tracking of all people on-site for contact tracing purposes. The latest suggestion was to bring in field tents to setup on some of the grassy areas to increase square footage so we can be at regular capacity for our sessions. Admin is planning for us to be back on site within an "optimal teleworking" framework by October but the rumblings are that we should not be surprised if this drags into next year for us.

The stop movement order for us is still in place through 30 June. After that the plan is to allow essential travel for CONUS and nonessential for CONUS starting maybe in September. OCONUS essential travel might be allowed in the fall but with mandatory isolation upon return. Still no definitive answer on when leave travel may resume.

In other news, an inexpensive water rower from Amazon just arrived and we're absolutely loving having it. Our routine is to get up around 630am, ride our bicycles on stationary trainers for a half hour, and then row for 10-15 minutes (it'll take a while to build back up rowing capacity). Then we shower, get our morning tea, eat some food, and get to work. A few days a week we also cycle in some free weights exercises with the litte 2.5# and 5# dumbbells we had in the garage and 15# and 25# kettlebells. They're not big weights but they're enough to keep the blood flowing. With the expectation that gyms won't reopen here until the fall at the earliest, I'm glad we have the funds and the space to have a modest home gym.

There's a fair amount of stuff on the RS Calendar. We could use some folks to volunteer to be leaders.
I don't get how that works. DOn't people plana run and then put it on the calendar? How is a run there if no one organizing t?

In-area spring skiing was over a month ago and no law or regulation is going to change that. By June even mud season will be done this year. The governor could at least bother with a cursory look out the window at the state beyond Denver.

Nothing to do with a mask it was just a criminal. Luckily he didn't kill anyone and now he's locked up. He shot at people over towing his car.

"Aurora police discovered Watson was wanted for questioning in an April non-injury shooting at a Denver tow yard that had temporary possession of Watson's BMW, according to the document. The caliber associated with that attack was the same used in the Waffle House shooting, police said."

Media mask madness, clearly being done for the optics only. They just started doing this now in May?? Why not in April at the height of the pandemic?

People in Summit have been a little insane with the mask issues. I was never a big fan of the government mandates for masks in public places, the libertarian inside me silently screams at the thought, but if a business asks me to wear one in order to use their store, thats their right and I am happy to comply. It definitely is turning into a virtue signal thing up here though. I've been yelled at quite a few times on the bike path walking the dog while keeping a very reasonable distance from others. You will see people walking down the street, alone, and they are still masked up.

Yesterday I was on a run and a guy who saw me coming up the trail buried his face in a bush and screamed "where is your mask!". I chose not to reply, but found it interesting he was wearing his low so he could still breathe freely through his nose. When I was at the barber last week the guy next to me commented on how he thinks its crazy to see people riding a road bike at 40mph in traffic with no helmet, but they still have a mask on.

It seems to me that the coronavirus situation has destroyed the average Americans ability to make reasonable risk assesments....

Not only that but there are practically no cases of COVID19 being transmitted from one person to another outdoors. There is only one single example in China, every single other case of transmission happened indoors. Certainly 0 cases of outdoor transmission here in the USA.

I give platelets and they were willing to turn me away the most recent time if I chose not to wear a fear mask. The whole place was half-heartedly complying in the first place, tugging and pulling them on and off.

I've been doing a very nearly monthly donation for 12 years, through flu seasons, other global disease outbreaks, some of which don't even disqualify you from donating or might have a lag time. The donation offices are in medical buildings where you walk past actually ill people and touch doors in waiting rooms and hallways. Its only now it mattered enough that they would let me go for not putting a bandana on my face?

They even acknowledged it's ridiculous and especially for a platelet donor since we lay there for an hour so have to use our one free arm to pull the mask down, touch a water bottle or iPod or even put food or Tums (you chew antacids to counteract the coagulant that binds calcium out of you) in our mouth.

The donation system has developed over decades to be sterile where it needs to be sterile and to have distance between donors where distance is necessary. By its very definition anyone who is currently sick or has been recently is not allowed to donate blood. It's one of the most unlikely places you'll encounter a sick person. To add pointless masks now is absurd. It's clearly to shame and feel like you're helping with no rational basis.

Literally no one can stop from touching their face, mask or not. It really is hilarious.

I like your optimism that it was still present before the Rona. :) This just feels like the first real threat that we have faced as a population in a while that needs most people to think. It is certainly shedding light on some issues in many places.
