Keep me up to date on this Perry, might be a good one for the new rig.

A VERY good run for the new rig. ;)

I'm definitely interested - loved all the shots from last year and had a serious case of the "miss-outs."

Very good.

I'm just waiting on my vacation bid for the second half of the year to come out, to make sure I got the vacation I was bidding for.

I think I can pull this off this time. Need to see what tag I draw first. Elk take priority as my freezer is getting pretty empty.

Food is overrated........

Agree with Dan, it WOULD be a great place to take the new rig!!!

You should join us! Fun times, and as I've already stated, awesome country!

Did you all see this? He started hiking near Cumbres Pass, found outside of Chama:

http://www.usnews.com/news/us/artic...d-dead-in-new-mexico-ending-monthslong-search

I didn't. Quite the tragedy, but hiking from Chama to Abiquiu? I've always wanted to do that. I've only ever backpacked north of 160 and Chama, but the area south to Abiquiu is absolutely stunning (there's a reason O'Keefe moved there).

...but back to the trains and the trip....

I got my vacation--I'll be there. For sure. ;)

...and just to get you guys pumped.... it's waking up for the season right now....

Im totally pumped! Just wish it wasn't so far out, but I suppose the fall colors will make it worth the wait.

Speaking of Abiquiu, the girl and I toured Ghost Ranch on horseback a couple months ago. A definite highlight of the year so far.

Since it looks like Outlaws won't happen as planned, I'm going to try and make this run instead. I've been looking at the maps and I think I might be able to make a cool loop out of it by heading back to see the Spanish Peaks over Laveta Pass and Cuchara Pass down through Trinidad and then East into Kansas, maybe hitting the Flint Hills on the way back to Ames. :thumb:

Right on Perry. Was planning on taking 285 down all the way just to see some scenery I miss. :thumb:

I'm amazed anyone takes any other route.

We always drove up 285 to visit Grandma and Grandpa. I'll bet I can count on two fingers the times we took I-25 growing up. I had smart parents. :)

This'll be tons of fun Martin!

Have to say that i'm getting supper excited for this trip. Did some looking on Google Earth this past weekend and do feel I the route figured out for Apache Canyon. We will be doing this the first day. Another of those routes suggested by a local. Hopefully there wont be lots of side by sides saying we wont make it like on Napoleon Pass:rolleyes:....

I hope to have the new runner ready for this trip. Don't think my back could handle another outing in ol' Skelator:rolleyes::(.

Since outlaws is out this year I'm toying with the idea of extending my run a bit. Curious if anyone else is interested? Just camping in cool places and doing things a stock 80 can do (without losing plastic fenders).

I'm probably up for that. I have ideas on where to go too.
