I've been wrenching off and on since I was a kid and though I have taken a break for a decade or so I think I still have the chops to get it done. I'm looking to pick up an 80 series in the next three to five years to teach my son how to wrench and how to wheel with but though I know my way around a shop, I know much less about LCs and their particular brand of persnicketyness. Does anyone have a baselining/ restoration video series they think is fairly comprehensive they'd like to share? I'll take video, text, live demo, whatever. I'd like to be as knowledgeable as possible going into the project.

One other thing to consider is that 80s are now hot and desirable. I'm sure you can find a deal, but an 80 with a decent body and reasonable nice interior will usually sell for more $$ than you'd guess.

The bargains right now are in the 100 series. I've recently seen some good looking trucks selling for $5K. There's plenty of good wrenching to be had on a 100 series.

^this. If it were me I'd be looking for a 2006-07 100-series or a GX470-460 in good condition. While the 80 will always be my favorite its a tough bill to swallow. If you don't see yourself wheeling it to its max potential the 100 will offer so much more in daily drivability, parts availability, and a truck 10 years newer with less general wear for less money.
