I also got all new headlight parts from Toyota. The old stuff was shot. The labels on this stuff say I got it 1/24/14 which I thought was funny. One more box off the shelf.

I may do cibie housings and stock wattage h4 bulbs I haven't decided yet..

The engine harness is in but still waiting a few more parts from coolerman. I kept finding farted up stuff the further I went and I thought I was done but I wasn't..

Marco, I splurged for the Round Eyes... its one of the best upgrades I have ever done on the 40 for safety and performance. Also, they don't scream aftermarket like some of the newer LED's do on a classic resto like you have going.

I did too, but am now wondering if an h4 conversion wouldn't have been a better choice.

The Roundeyes have H4 bulbs. I ran them for a while in the 60 but they both got destroyed by rocks so I went to the glass Cibie housings which have done better. The Cibie housings throw a nicer pattern IMHO but they are comparable either way. I like the classic glass look a tad better also.

First two tries on the gas pedal were wrong but I finally figured it out. This remembering how things went together is hard even on some simple parts.

And it isn't a VW pedal pad either!

Where'd you get the pedal pad?

Marco, glad to make a small contribution to your restoration. If you need anything else let me know. Bill

Thanks Bill the pictures were a big help, I like getting these kinds of details right. It'd bug me to look under/in a stock truck and notice it wasn't the way it was supposed to be :)

Where'd you get the pedal pad?

I honestly don't remember, It was years ago... another part I pulled out of a box that has been on the shelf for literally 4+ years. It does look like CCOT and Cruiser Corps sells what looks like the exact same one though:

Just catching up on this. I am in awe and speechless. This is stunning. Looking forward to seeing it on the road.

Thanks Dude! :wrench:

That's totally what they did there, and it makes a lot of sense!

Well I got the Cibie housings and some stock wattage Osram bulbs. Now it looks like I need to take the radiator out to install the mesh panel with the emblem. Goo. Guess I should have done that a while ago.

I guess it's starting to look like a truck though.

Instead of removing the radiator, can't you just unbolt the front bib and tilt it forward? Then you have access to the grill... that's what I do, thought that was what the hinge on the bottom was for.

Oh yeah! That's funny I didn't think about it. Must have been tired.

Looks awesome. A couple questions:

-Where did you get the Toyota battery and is it stock group size?

-Do you have a reference for the routing of the speedo cable up the firewall and into the instrument cluster? That is something I guessed on when I did mine and I'm not sure I did it correctly.

I got the battery at Stevenson and just walked in and asked for a battery for an '82 40... looks to be a group 27 or something but i'm not there right now to check. I can confirm later. It fits the new stock tray and clamp that I also got from Stevenson perfectly.

As far as the speedo cable goes, I haven't installed it yet but i'll snap some photos when I do. Do you still have the plastic clip that holds the speedo cable to the clutch master cylinder? That thing helps keep things organized pretty well.

What year is your truck?
