I keep looking for AT alternate but seem to return to the Falken Wildpeak ATw4. My only issue is they are heavy as hell. Son's 4Runner could benefit from less rotating mass.

I am enjoying the baja boss so far but only have about 1k on them. They were a bit lighter than the falkens in my size, but not by much.

I have the falken mt on the 60 and they do surprisingly well in snow.

People's Soviet Socialist Republic of California,
For what it's worth, I've been happy with the Toyo Open Country A/T tires on my stock suspension, stock tire size, stock rims 3rd gen Tacoma. We've taken them on some decent terrain including snow and ice, sharp rocks (with sidewall slicing risks), and mud without any issues. I've never felt like I needed more traction. I think I've got about 12k miles on them so far in about a year.

I’m running the Toyo OC RT Trail. Great off road tires! They are a bit noisy at highway speeds (they sound like Anakin Skywalkers racer pod) but not as loud as Duratracs. Because they are an off road focused tire, they are tough but heavy.
One of my favorite tires is the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT. They aren’t making them anymore since Goodyear acquired Cooper and started making changes to the company.
After the RT Trails wear out, I’ll probably go back to an All Terrain.

The short list for an AT is:
BFG KO3
Toyo OC AT3
Yokohama AT4
Falken AT4W

@Corbet I thought about the Patagonia AT Pro. I like the tread pattern and they look like they would be awesome in snow. But I couldn’t find very many positive reviews when I searched online forums.

Another AT that has peaked my interest is the Nokian Outpost nAT, but they don’t have many options for the 16 inch wheel.

The Toyo OC AT is on my list as they are also available in a LT "C" rating. Personally I've had mixed sucess with Toyo. Just bought a 4th set of Toyo snow tires as I've had good luck there. But my OC M/T's cracked really bad, had separation issues early that got warrantied, I would not buy them again.

My Nokian Outpost nAT's have been good on my LC-250 so they are in the mix for the 4Runner.

Winter performance is not part of my AT criteria. All our vehicles get dedicated snow tires.

I had the toyo oc on my work truck and loved them. Did great (for an AT) on muddy ranch two tracks in WY, i was also impressed with them on the snowpacked roads. I opted for the Falken wildpeaks on both my 4runner and the new taco work truck. Excited to see how they perform this winter.
