Comfortable for sure but to me not worth the struggle folding and unfolding. Nearly lose a finger every time (other peoples chairs, I do not and would not own one). They get worse with dirt. grit, and wear. For $30, maybe worth it.
This, I have one, very comfortable but opening and closing sucks.

I actually just bought the car it had spare decklids pm me

Sweet! Was it because of this post? No matter so glad it got saved. What's the plan for it and if you don't mind saying, what do they sell that thing for?
I agree that I saw the decklid inside.
I used to have a 73 Thing....

It was absolutely because of your post! (Thank you btw) I actually sold my 69 Ghia exactly a week ago to buy an fj40 posted on here(which sold before I could close my affairs, have full asking amount now haha). I went to get parts off the junk ghia for my buddy who bought my ghia on Sunday, and I took the car home with me Monday morning... Unfortunately on sunday the manager who could sell the whole car wasn’t there so I had to wait until the next morning. So I gathered everything into the car and left around 1pm, then between then and close, someone else came and took everything(including engine) except the body metal. It was mostly complete aside from interior....I paid $650, parts only no title, gonna have to salvage it. So let that be hope anytime you want to save a car from the junkyard you just have to ask. I’m not sure on the plan for it yet, as I am really ready for an FJ 40 (also considered getting a thing) and sold my ghia for a reason. But it was too nice of a car to go to waste/be crushed, so I sacrificed. Know of any 40’s?

That was my 40 you wanted! I needed to close my deal quickly to make a run at a HDJ81 (that also sold before I had the money in hand). It’s crazy how things work out (or don’t) sometimes. Hope you find your 40 soon

80 people have thoughts on this? Wife would probably say no right now, but seems like a decent price to get in a triple locked '97. Salvage titles always scare me a bit.

I don't know man, the 80 market is definitely crazy right now. Salvage titles aren't a real concern on old vehicles if you can show why it was salvaged.

It definitely looks like a lot of truck for the money. It is hard to find an 80 like that without the mods for less than $6k. Then you're going to spen at least another $8k on all the mods that he has done to it even if you buy the stuff used.

In short, I think it is a decent deal, not smokin, but decent given the market.

Seems like a lot of money for a salvage title. I've seen clean title 80s with similar builds go for about as much. My insurance allows me to have full coverage on a salvage title vehicle, so it kinda depends on who you're insured through though.

I've got a buddy who just filed an insurance claim on a salvage titled vehicle and is having a heck out a time getting them to payout. They're fighting paying because of the salvage title and unverifiable nature of the repair work. YMMV

The 80 looks awesome. I think it depends what you want to do with it whether it is right for you. Personally that is too nice and too expensive for me to want to wheel it, but I'm also really into DIY. I'm more into getting the truck for a song and making it fit my needs.

It's not a great deal, certainly not a bargain. If you absolutely love every modification that he has done to it, then maybe consider it. Otherwise, I would pass and keep looking.

Be very cautious about buying a Costa40. There are typically many “mods” cobbled together to create the 40. Not telling you what to do, just throwing a cautious warning out there.
