I think that one will be similar to the Green "Reserve" Weller, but you'll have to let us know.

I picked up a green one, it seems decent enough to me...

I also picked up the Rittenhouse Rye. Have already bought a second to give as a gift- really like that one thanks guys!

Very different, actually. The special reserve is such a pleasant, sweet, easy drinker that it makes for a great gateway bourbon to offer to people new to drinking bourbon.

The 107 on the other hand carries a lot of oak for a relatively young whiskey and it drinks pretty hot for 107 proof. I find the 107 does well with a few drops of water to open it up a bit.

So a customer gave me a bottle today... :D Wood's Rye from Salida, not sure if it's been mentioned here yet? It is pretty good, very oaky, almost peaty like a highland scotch, which I like. And not very hot so can drink it neat, though one ice cube seems to open it up nicely. It really tastes like a Tallisker or Glen Fiddich though, I'm kinda intrigued by it.

I'll bring this to Moab- I have to bail on Saturday though :Princess: works on Sunday and I need to be home for the kids. So how about bring your bottles to my place on Thursday? I'm happy to host. :happyhour:

edit: here's the pic, I really like this one

Thanks for this. I am surprised it is that different.

They had the special reserve back in full stock when I went yesterday to the store. I ended up buying a bottle of the Rittenhouse since I had not tried that one.

Rittenhouse Rye is so good; punches well above it's weight class (price point) in my humble opinion. Have kept my fishing flask topped off with RR this year; just about need to pick up another bottle myself.

Anyone tried this yet? Had a small taste at the distillery & it was quite tasty. They have a great facility & invited RS to host a gathering if we’d like. They’re up in Longmont close to Epocs Manufacturing

Haven’t tried it. But I’ll have to swing by there next time I’m in LM.

Well - price aside, I'd say the hype is real. There is a richness and depth to that gold label Wild Turkey that I've never tasted before in any bottle, and definitely not the current day Wild Turkey. Some of the Russell's Reserve single barrel bottles are good, but not this good. It blew away the Willett I had after it - that's for sure.

that red label Weller is pretty solid- also I picked up the green label at Total Beverage for $17.. and they had a bunch of it. I am certain this thread has altered the supply chain somehow..

At any rate, so far the best Weller I've ever had is that red label one, and it's hard for me to tell the difference from the green one.. both seem pretty good to me.
