Coming into this discussion late. But I have 285 70 17's Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, on vixen. 2019 4Runner.
I have NOT done a BMC, and I have approx 2.5" lift. (I say approximately because even with upgraded coils she's a heavy steel laden truck, and then when you air down you lose a bit as well). I kept the oem fox shocks up front, and had the coil overs upgraded for weight & height. Yes, I'm aware they may bottom out, but I've not had any issues, yet. I have the Toytec Aluma Boss 2.0 on the rear with XHD coils.
I have the SPC adjustable UCA's and I request that the alignments get pushed forward as much as possible. I've also never needed to remove the stock mud flaps up front with that. I find the on-road & off-road driving very sturdy with this setup, even though they (the alignment guys) said it wouldn't be as good. I've driven this setup for years now & I've liked it.
Along those lines, before my last shock rebuild last fall, I considered upgrading shocks. And after this wheeling season, I'm considering it more now, because there's a droop happening on the driver's side. I have about 70k miles in total on this setup. So it might be time for an upgrade.
