I’m very familiar with that guy. Agree with his findings. It’s too bad tire options are not nearly as good in 255’s. And I’ll admit it, the OEM tires are already tucked way into the fender. Wider just looks better. Plus according to the chart above 255s are harder to fit. Which also surprises me as it seems like the problem lies with width when you're turning. And skinny should be easier?

My FJ has a 2" Toytek and they (285s) rub slightly on the frame. It never bothered me, I still wheeled it that way. Just get the 285s and run it. If they rub fix it. You will like the way it looks and "it's better to look good than to feel good"
