I'm hoping to be there, and if so I'd write something for TT. Easy.

I won't know for sure though until February 19 though if I got the days off to go.

Outstanding. The more Members the better. If you guys would help recruit newer Members I'd greatly appreciate it.

For one reason or another some folks are fearful of leading trails. Hopefully we can change that!

Possibly the reason is that we have set a high bar, and I think that's good.

But instead of being fearful, the message we should send is that it is a privilege and an honor to be qualified and chosen to lead trails for Rising Sun, whether at Cruise Moab or any of our year 'round trails.

This thread brings out an thought. Bill Burk has a training class where you get a certificate. I know Robbie is certified. I bet we could certify trail leaders with some kind of curriculum and successful completion?

I've come to the sad realization that Cruise Moab is probably not going to happen for me this year (thanks to the job change). For that reason, probably miss the training sessions as well. I hope to be at the Feb meeting. Hanging out with everyone at Cruise Moab is always one of my most favorite ways to kick off wheelin' season. Good pals in great country. What more do you need? Look forward to all the reports, and already planning CM '17.

I brought this up at one of our earlier CM Meetings...

Can't make the February meeting due to a previous work commitment.

However, we're in for February 26-28: Buena Vista's Chinaman's Gulch :camping:. (Don't ski, knees shot.) Camping at the trailhead sounds good (Heated RTT :D) and looking forward to the training session. Travis, let me know what we can do to help out with this. I can head down to the trailhead early Friday to set up a camp.

March 31-April 3 Cruise Moab Trail Leader Training.= Insky! BFE I presume...?

Bummed you can't make the meeting but glad that you can make the camping. Yes on camping at BFE & the trailhead to Chinaman's.

Would you be interested in putting on a brief "emergency use of both CB's and HA

Speaking of help... Who wants to be an SME (Subject Matter Expert)?

I'm hoping to have some brief breakout session through out the weekend. I figured these can take place around the campfire, before departing on the run, at lunch on the trail, etc. Pretty informal & most-likely a review for most. Any help would be greatly appreciated so if you'd like to take on a topic or have an additional one in mind; please let me know.

here's where I need thus far:

  • Winching/hi lifts, how to safely recover someone.
  • First Aid: John Surina (Guest Speaker from Aurora FD)
  • Trail Leader Preparedness & Tire issues: how to prepare for those "unprepared", plugging, bead setting, securing the vehicle
  • Emergency use of Radios (Mainly HAM): Old40dag
  • Managing breakdowns on the trail: DanS
  • How to fill out CM paperwork properly
  • Spotting, Trail Line Up, & Egos

I can't make CM this year. But, I can make this training run. I will help as needed. Along the lines of good communication, vehicle assessment and spotting issues.

Definitely will be at both weekends. I will be available to help with anything needed, both at the training runs, and at CM16. Just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for all your hard work Travis! It is greatly appreciated.

I've spoken with J. Zepp (Trail Assignment Guru). He assures me that I'll have input on who's leading/gunning trails for CM.

If you have a trail that you'd like to lead or gun be sure to register for that particular trail when registering for the event.

That was a rumor spread by a parrot on my shoulder :beer2:

Seriously. if there is a trail you are interested in leading (or gunning) PLEASE sign up for it as your first choice when you register! That will make it so much easier than moving you around!

I also have it on apparent evidence that we have committee members posting up here while they're supposed to be paying attention to the committee meeting they're attending LOL!

I was wondering if you'd catch that!:):):)

With 2 little ones at home I've learned to just "get it done" before I get distracted!

FYI I did select my fave trails when I registered, but I am available to lead or gun any trails where you all need help.
