Photos? Running? Manual?

Interesting.......
She drove it to the house and into the barn a year ago. That's the last time it ran.

I'll be over there tonight and get more info

she says it is a manual. battery is dead, so she can't check mileage. it's in egbert wyoming (i-80 corridor, about halfway between cheyenne and nebraska border).

i only looked briefly at it. there are torn up seat covers on it. no clue on the seats underneath. years ago, they put a cheapy racing looking steering wheel and pedals on it. let me know if you want specific pics. as i mentioned, i have to go there to pick up my dog today and i'll be there this weekend to replace some chain link gates for her.

please make this go away....i'm trying to get her to purge her stuff so she can park her daily drivers inside before hail season comes ;)

Owned a 1991 geo metro coupe 3cylinder carb car.
It was my wedding present

Got close to 50mpg
Not sexy but tires and gas were cheap so was insurance
Got me through first 5 years of my “adult married” life

If I could find one of those I would buy it yesterday

Sad we need batteries and 2020 technology to approach that level of efficiency

My buddies Honda crx and probably others were similar mileage and a lot higher quality

Get off my lawn

A Metro weighed 1,600 pounds back then and a Prius weighs 3,200 pounds now. I know which one I'd rather be driving in an accident especially when the average new car in 2022 was over 4,000 pounds. It would be interesting to see what modern car would get if stripped down to 1,600 pounds.

Toyota Corona on a Jeep chassis. I bought a stock one identical to this from Ben at Slee and wish I never sold it.

Right?!?!? Why do we have to be so knee-jerky as a society? A little car that get's super high mileage may not be sexy, buy it would definitely be a good balance and arguably less impactful if done right.

If it were on one it would be hard to pass up. It would be in good company with the Stout.

I sure was. We used it for a couple years while we were deep in our motorcycle phase of life. We sold it because we didn't drive it enough at the time. It was another Yota family that bought it and the plan was for the 16 year old daughter to drive as a first car it while the big brother had a first gen 4x4 pickup that they restored. They said they planned to do the same with the Corona and gave me their address. I've driven by over the years, and I've never seen the truck or the Corona again. I still long for a 2 door one with a beams 3SGE, similar to the one below.
Also, cool Toyota history fact, they made a cute little ute version for the Australian market. They are also revered to globally by enthusiasts as the shovelnose, can you see why?

My 79 Corona still sits in the garage awaiting a day when I can get to work on it. Weird and cool little cars. Here it is on the day I bought it (my old 60 in the background).

Rear wheel drive, 2100lbs wet. It should be a fun little car when I’m done. The plan is to keep it NA, but do a 22R block with a ported 20R head, a mild LC Engineering cam, and a Weber 32/36 on top. I’d love a pair of sidedraft Mikunis or something but that would be about twice what I paid for the entire car. I’ll put a non-annoying exhaust on it and swap in a 5spd to replace the auto as “phase two”. Apparently AE86 suspension is a direct fit so I’ll find some springs that are a little stiffer (but not too harsh) that lower it maybe 1/2-1”.

Speaking of motorcycles @HDavis I’m scheduled to go retrieve this thing on Saturday. I’ve never built a bike before. Of course I’m starting with something Japanese though.

Birds of a feather. Cool little two stroke Bridgestone! Holler if you have questions about the bike, I may very well know more about early Honda motorcycles than I do about Cruisers. I put 30-40k miles on this 1970 cb750 over about 5 years.

Nope. I see a deal, I take it. I can’t afford to buy nice things at face value so I buy junk and build it.

I mean, a vintage junked out parts motorcycles are in the $300-600 range because of all the kids building cafe racers. I see an interesting Japanese bike for $200, I get it.

A big boy 750! Seems like most of the old MIJ bikes I see are much smaller, CB350s and such. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of questions though.

Imm think phase one will be carb rebuild, new tires, and a good baseline on brakes and electrical. We’ll see where that gets me. Oh, and I need to buy a helmet and get my motorcycle license. Haven’t ridden one in 15 years 😬
