Nice!
Is it yours?

No, I wish I had purchased it last fall when it was for sale in Fairplay. ;) A guy in Conifer bought it to flip. His username is Motoloco here and on MUD. I hope someone local picks it up for a good price. It's a pretty cool 40 although a bit rusty in the rear.

It is mine if I want it. Just need to borrow a trailer. Do I really want it though? Doubtful it is in any better shape than what I already have...

"We don't know a whole lot about the motor, except it is the original motor out of 73 -76 toyota landcruiser. It has been sitting for many years, although kept covered. No gurantees on anything and it is huge (bigger than most) and we just want it gone."

Thought I would mention updates from some CL ads I have responded to:

FJ40 parts
http://denver.craigslist.org/car/510470833.html
"It's in Denver CO. Off I-70 and Vasquez. I found out it is a 1968 if that helps. "

1978 Toyota Landcruiser FJ55 Parts car - $400
http://denver.craigslist.org/car/531958488.html
"I do have it. It is in Walsenburg. Yes it has the 4 speed and the matching factory tcase. I parked it several years ago and it has not been moved since. You would have to put it on a trailer to get it home. Should go right into the FJ40. Thanks Jon"

FJ60 in Albuquerque
FJ60 drive train
"i've a got a '86 FJ60 just sitting on the side of the house with the complete drive train. Truck ran strong, but couldn't pass emissions so I decided to part it out/use parts for the rebuild of my FJ55. Bad turned to worse with the 55, so alas I now have two parts trucks.
I'm in Albuquerque. If you wanted to drive down, maybe we could pull it out in a day. Or heck, if you wanted it in a big FJ60 shaped carrying case, I'm sure we could work out a deal."

Jump on this one!!! It would be worth it just for the F&R axles you could put them under your '73.:thumb:

Better than the locked axles from Uncle Ben? :)

Maybe. I forget what Kevin has. This '78 has disc brakes and the rear is fine spline. And you also get a tranny & t-case and the dual circuit brake lines out of the deal.

Hmmm....a 2f, 4 speed, tcase (not split, right?) with disc brake axles? And Ige gets all the spare pig parts? OK, email sent. :)

Which brings up a thought....what gearing do 55's have? On 40's, the early '78 is a great snag as it has the illusive fine spline 4:11's! (>7-98 3.73 gear change happend) No idea on 55's though IH8RUST!

Made him an offer. What if he takes it?? Need to borrow a trailer and haul it back with my 80. Yank out the engine, tranny, tcase (use the tranny and tcase on my 40, keep the 2f for the next club member who needs it. Yank the axles and either use them on the 40 or hold on to them (maybe if I get the 40 in Billings...) then let Ige pick over the carcass. :)

A '79 I parted out had 3.73s. Someone on MUD would know, or maybe JZ. :)

Timm, if I'm available, now that I may have some time on my hands, I'll be happy to go and help. :D
