He's the guy that rolls around Moab in a VW Beetle with 10 light bars on it.... You can see part of it in one of the photos.

I’d cover up the license plates too. I would not want anyone knowing I put those wheels on an 80. Or probably anything for that matter.

Incidentally that 72/82 hybrid truck was illegal to import. I’m sure it will never matter or be noticed by authorities, but something to consider if someone was thinking about it.

Because of the older frame under everything else from a newer truck? Or the offensive wheels :D

:) the wheels certainly wouldn’t help! But you are on the right track regarding the swap. Specifically the engine. The 25 year import exemption is basically a collector loophole, and it requires that the vehicle have the original engine. The 2f swap was done prior to import, so it couldn’t legally be imported. Again it isn’t likely anyone will ever catch that, but if I were a buyer, I would offer less just because of the risk. Once illegally imported, there is no provision to, “turn back the clock” & fix it. So if someone ever caught on, the truck is is eligible for destruction. On top of that, the fine for knowingly misdeclaring an entry is $10k, just to start (you could likely mitigate this down).

And let’s face it, with wheels like that, every officer in the state that has taste, will be pulling it over to inspect it! :)

Damned it, you just crushed my dream of paying some Aussie to put a 1VD-FTV is something 25 years old and sending it over.
