I vastly prefer the term "touring rig" in lieu of "overland".
That's a pretty sweet rig. Too bad it wasn't for sale 5 months ago or I would've taken it down. I would've kept the drawers though. ;)

A decent deal too.

sigh, i passed on a patrol that was listed for 3,750 no rust in NM. I literally don't have anywhere to put anything else. I'm ready to downsize

Is this pricing in-line with what these things go for now?
Granted I am just getting into mine that I purchased a month ago, but that is not the worst price. I think you can be patient and find a better deal where someone has done some of the work for you. That one looks to be as it was straight off the base. Advantage is that it is a blank canvas, but you will have to do everything you want to get what you want, which will bring the price up.

My dad sure screwed up. We had one of those M416s in good condition for years but never used it. He sold it last year for just a couple hundred bucks I think. Oops.

I saw many 416s over the years from $500-800. They now start 1600 in so-so shape and clean ones seem to be 2500 or much more. To me, my homemade pickup bed trailer held a lot more, had a tailgate, was dirt cheap to buy/make, so I could never pull the trigger on a 416.

When I was researching I saw some folks getting them in surplus auctions for ~$100 just over 10 years ago!
