I have a friend going to look at this, anybody have any advice/thoughts?
Like @Telly said, pass if he can't show proof. Those 3.0's are a crap shoot. IF they were well taken care of and IF they had the HG replaced during the factory recall, they're not the worst motor in the world. They feel slightly more powerful than the 22re but with worse mpg. If it is a new engine, it should have some good paperwork.

I think it's hilarious that the seller made sure to note the towing package. I wouldn't use that to tow anything more than a small utility trailer.

Lol, my name in spanish class was Nico. Also, why does Manuel have so many transmissions in so many cars?
And how do so many trucks come with a wench? Or breaks?

I’d pay extra for a wench…

Someone get on this.
Dammit Pete...I want this! I couldn't even image how angry the CFO would be. No title make me wonder about the history.

Vermont loop hole. Did this on my 70 FJ40 but I had to pay "book value", which set me back $800 bucks! Worth it tho.

Not craigslist but looks like a good deal on Expo. The RTT and Awning are worth $5K

Simply applying for lost title in CO is not really that hard. Just a vin inspection and form unless something has changed since last time I did it.
Yeah it's easy for the person who's name is on the last registration to get a duplicate title but generally if someone doesn't do that before they try to sell a car then there must be some other reason like they got it from someone else and that avenue is no longer possible. The Vermont registration process is pretty simple it just takes time and some money.

it's dependant on age and value of the vehicle. if you have to post bond, it's expensive. if you can do "in lieu of bond, it's just a time consuming pita. vin verification has to be done by state patrol (dmv or emissions station can't do that one). afaik, only one state patrol office does it in the denver metro area and it's by reservation for the one day a week that they do it. i called non stop for an hour solid before i got through to set a reservation. from there, it wasn't bad. i took the paperwork to the dmv for a title search. if there is a registered owner, you have to send them a certified letter of intent to title, waiit 30 days and hope they don't dispute it.

one note, get a temp tag and drive the vehicle to the state patrol office. if you trailer it, they consider it inop and will stamp the body "salvage" and you get a salvage title

Yeah, often it's because the title was left open. So it's not easy to find a helpful previous owner 'cause he's died or moved away or couldn't care less about a car he sold 10 years to someone else who parked it in shed and never registered it. Legitimate PITA for sure.

But if it was my truck that was stolen I'd be glad there's a 30-day lien requirement, VIN database clearance and notification attempt over someone trying to exploit a loophole in Vermont or New Hampshire.

1985 Toyota Land Cruiser Rare Land Cruiser Pickup - $39,995 (Car Tunes)

This is a 1985, last year, Toyota FJ45 Long Wheelbase Land Cruiser pickup imported for Saudi Arabia. The new factory OEM dash cluster shows ~3820km and before that it showed ~11,XXX miles on it, which coincides with the install of a rebuilt 2F engine. Miles on the vehicle prior to that are anyone’s guess.

The original engine was removed shortly after it reached the US, as it had rusted through from the use of normal water as coolant in Saudi. All the cooling system was flush and if need replaced at that time as well. At the same time, the knuckles were rebuilt, front and rear diffs were checked and serviced, as was the transmission and transfer case. Brakes have all been done, with new slave cylinders installed in the real, the parking brake shoes have also been replaced. All tie rod ends were replaced with factory parts a couple years ago. The head liner and seats have all been redone. It sits on a 2 ½” Old Man Emu lift and Toyo Open Country 33/10.50/15LT tires with matching spare. A custom bed rack was fabricated and ties into the factor headache rack for the installation of the $4,000.00 unused Bundatec which has been sold separately.Rigid LED fog light were installed and are activated by an OEM Toyota fog light knob on the dash. Accessories installed within the last year are, two 5gal Jerry cans in locking holders are in the bed and a Hi-Lift Jack mounted on the passenger sidestep, with a FJ40/5 specific mount made in New Zealand. Headlights were upgraded to Halogen units. The truck gets power from a ~ 1year old X2Power AGM dual purpose starting/deep cycle battery with 930cca and a 90AH capacity.

There is absolutely ZERO frame rust and the only current showing spots are in the bed around the mounting bolts. A rusty passenger side kick panel and floorboard were cut out and rebuilt by the “Rust Doctor” here in Grand Junction a couple years ago, then primed and paint matched to the truck.

The truck overall is in very good condition for a vehicle that has never been restored, so it can be driven and enjoyed without fear of destroying a $100+ restoration. Or it would be an excellent candidate for restoration.  The engine has a small oil leak from either the rear cam plug or rear main seal, don’t know which until the tranny is dropped, both parts I have but I have been unable to install them thus far. I fixed the infamous galley plug last year, replacing the OEM solder plug with a screw in allen plug. New front JBL speakers and a Bluetooth Sony deck were installed last year, with the speakers being mounted in the floorboards with mounts purchased from Specter Offroad.

I know I am missing something I have done over the last three years, so feel free to reach out and ask any questions you may have.

Yeah, that does seem weird. I'll swing by today and see but I do think there's a rack on it now. Also a Hi-Lift on the passenger side. He's had it for a few years that I know, it's on the lot for a while, around town once in a while, gone for a while. I don't think he's in any hurry to sell the FJ45.

I'm not defending him (the fella who owns the place now is called Ryan) or anything, I don't really know him personally. I guess at least you can say the flaws on that FJ60 aren't concealed. The dealer has been around since 1991 although the family who has it now has only owned it I think maybe 10 or so years.

The added rack looked to be about the same size square tubing as the Toyota headache rack. It seemed appropriate for a utilitarian truck, is asking for canvas top to me.
