well finally some more updates.. I have actually not really worked on it at all in quite a while.. just kinda here and there, at first i finshed up the tail lights, (thanks nathanial) then dry ran the electrics. then the next day i took the frame over to B&T bed liners after cleanin up a few welds.. while the frame was out, i cleaned up the tub. ground down all the welds on the out side. set up the shocks on the lid a little better ..

yesterday evening i drove the trailer up to marco's house in boulder, trailer towed perfectlly. with Marco's help and his tubing bender i was able to bend up the 1" tubing for the roof rack, being as it was my first time bending, and marco was rusty we didnt get the length's perfect. which is 100% ok to me because i was planning on it not being perfect anyways, and having to cut them down.. i do have to say that we almost got it perfect on the second bar.. only a 1/4" long overall ..
THANKS MARCO

Will there be cross posts on the rack for say attaching a RTT to or would it attach to the outside bars somehow? :)

Looking really good! How did you get the holes for the tail lights so perfectly symmetrical?
Laser cut pieces from nathanial on a 4"x12" ish piece of steel that I grafted into the rear end. The bumper was to thick to acomidate the gasket.

I don't know how your tent ataches, so I was keeping it like you see it. Because I can always fab up 2x cross bars that just bolt in.

my only feedback is around the wiring harness. Do you have the ability to pull the wiring back out, enlarge the hole, then grommet it? you may not think that point will wear, but....

you can make your own. take some 6mm high pressure fuel line and slit down the middle. I have had good luck with the ones from mcmaster out of their assortment. There are firewall specific ones too.

trust me, I know just how much work this was.. great build.

i found this build with a google search since i'm going to build my own like this for my Jeep. I'm impressed - very nice work man.

couple questions -
what thickness of sheet metal did you use, and what wall thickness & tubing size did you use for the tub rim?

where did you get the sheet metal bent at & how much did they charge you for the bending & material? Might save others (and me :D) some time vs going down the list in the phone book.

We know all the best places in town for all things fab, however, we cannot reveal them to anyone who doesn't drive a Toyota! :thumb:

Kidding aside, I will let Tim chime in. :p:

My dad used to have a Tundra, my buddy has two Land Cruisers, and I've bought gas cans at Slee before...does that count? :D

Of course! :D Just messing with you.

FWIW, I used 16 ga tubing and sheet on my trailer build. It is holding up fine with a nice balance between strength and weight. :thumb:
