Ill be there friday afternoon and leave sometime saturday afternoon. Thats all I can swing. Hopefully I'll be able to do a little wheeling but always happy to spend time around a camp fire.

Sweet

Unfortunately I will have to back out this year. Got a contract on my house in Moab, got to move. Still hope to be at the Ghost Town Run.

Boo! Sorry to miss you friend!

I’m not going to make it either! Too much stuff backing into this weekend for me to leave town. Maybe next year?

Darn! Would been fun to have you along!

I might take you up on this. We have a new dog and my wife needs me to take her with me as she’ll be working late. Kelce is a small one at 15 pounds and almost nine months old.

Bradley,
Unfortunately, in a previous post, I have backed out of the trip as I have a contract on my Moab house and need to move during that time.

New forum member and Eagle County resident here. I really wish I could make this trip. Prior commitment, but perhaps I can offer a trip report. I just returned from the area and must say I was inspired by your trip. I've ridden the train several times, but never explored the area in the LC. Roads were dry, aspens around Sublette are just leafing out. Causeway below Osier is firm and water medium (up to the bottom of my door sills). Lots of mud bogs along FR 74 and 87 and one snow bypass on Brazos ridge, but I made it around the full loop solo and unsupported. One benefit of visiting before the train is running is being able to walk the tracks (I went Osier out halfway to Rock Tunnel). Here are some Pics to get you guys excited. Maybe I can join next year...

Some really fun pics and glad you made an adventure out of it! Always fun to walk the tracks and looks like you walked some great sections!

Let me get you guys warmed up with a DSNGRR double header today.

I know I say this every year, but definitely ready for it. My current plan is to bug out after work on Wed next week and head down to camp

Coordinates for camp: Google coordinates: 36°59'22"N 106°13'21"W

Thursday and Saturday we'll chase the train both out of Chama and Antonito. Friday we'll ride the train- so far it's looking like just a few of us? The trip is pretty laid back. And being early summer down in the San Luis Valley, always a magical time.

I found a sitter for our dog, so I booked my train ticket. I had them verify which train you are on, Perry, so I’d be sure to get the right one. I’ll see you Wednesday evening.

Awesome Bradley! Glad your able to make the train ride. Usually spend most of the day in the open air car, especially if it's a nice day out ( so far Friday's looking fantastic). Friday will be the only big day of this trip, since we have to catch a bus first. The rest of the weekend is pretty laid back. Something I'm looking forward to.

I just received a call from Cumbers & Toltec Scenic RR saying they have mechanical issues and need to move me to a train ride out of Chama to Osier, or refund…

I called and they said that the train is still running but they are unable to have the coach class car, so those of us that have Coach class tickets could potentially upgrade to Deluxe or Parlor and have the same train ride.

I just talked with them as well. Messaged you back with my thoughts.

The train maintenance issue caused us to rebook and I have changed my reservation to Chama Limited in Coach Class. If anyone is still interested in riding there is still availability. This route leaves Chama at 10AM and returns to Chama, so we will drive over the pass in the morning to catch the train at 10AM. They reportedly serve hot lunch at the midway point and this route is a bit cheaper.

Is there cell reception at the campsite, or do you have an GMRS channel number that you use? I should be there before dark Wednesday, but not garanteed.

At our camp above Antonito, yes. But will be on 146.580 for ham and channel 22 for GMRS. I'll be leaving after work so will monitor.
