I got one on Whatsapp I should have screenshotted but I was too quick to block and delete. It was from a Chinese name and started with "hi" and I replied because I was expecting a message from a Chinese vendor...
I asked what was going on and they said something like "I have a female friend who is financially well off looking for a husband over 30 years old in the USA to marry."

@hitchhiker I got a few texts from "girls" named Sophia living in New York but using a SoCal area code. Must be your contact's friend.
This other one a few months ago from "Romi" is sorta worth sharing. Said "she" was from China living in Boston. Screenshot:
Kept wanting me to use Telegram (other times it was WhatsApp), but I kept saying it didn't work on my phone. I teased "Romi" saying "she's" just an advertising AI trying to just make me sign up to the app. "She" kept denying it
Idk after a while it feels a lot like a 2000s-2010s chatBot mixed with a lil 2024 AI spice. It's entertaining to play along. Kinda like playing with fire

I learned my lesson trying to mess with these scammers. I messed and then they sent me a link to my gay dating page. They had my picture and lots of my information. Next thing you know I’m getting homosexual messages to my email from the gay dating site.
As you can imagine, I don’t respond any more.

Sounds like a pretty good time. When I was in the Bay area two friends did that to each other. They posted to the SF Craigslist "man looking for other men"
