Going to pick up some diodes after work for the auto window up mod. Ping me if you want me to grab a diode for you. My windows are really slow to go up so I plan on cleaning the contacts as well. Hopefully I don't need to clean the tracks.

don't just clean the contacts, that won't get it. Lube the rail gaskets on the windows themselves REAL good.

Would it be cheaper and easier if we just ordered up a dozen from Mouser? Just looked......0.05 each from Mouser. 0.03 if we order 100 and 0.015 if we order 500 at a time! Shipping for a dozen would be $.41 :lmao: .05x12+.41= $1.01 ;)

I'd take a couple if we could get together for an auto-up mod day project :)

Me and electrical stuff don't always get along real well...

I just tried to order a dozen from Mouser. Unfortunately since diodes are hazardous material (sylicone) shipping went up to about $4....now it's cheaper to go to Radio Shack.

You need 1 1N4001 Diode (semiconductor). RS part number 276-1101

I guess we now have plenty as I swung by and got a 25 pack for $2.50ish :lmao::lmao: Free auto up mods for all 80's in the club! :thumb::thumb:
I do have several resistors too for any 95up 80 owners that want to do the temp guage mod. Hardest part is R&Ring the cluster.

Truly one of the easiest mods done so far! Literally took less than 15 minutes and works excellent! Unfortunately, it led to cleaning the contacts which took an hour! Awesome mod I would be happy to do for anyone. I will put my iron, solder and diodes in my 80 so with the inverter I can "do" my friends as needed! :thumb::hill:

Ditto what Timbuck said! What sort of offerings would you accept in exchange?

I would love to get that done to my wife's 80. She complained when we bought it that it only had, "auto down"...

Best,
Abe

I've got two waiting for you UB :hill:

Question, did you do the mod on all 4 switches or just the driver's window switch? Too bad this doesn't help with the slow up syndrome :(
