I don't get it. I'm never going to abandon my little green cans... seriously. I toss a few of them in a plastic case on the roof rack along with other cooking items for trips, another 1 or 2 are always in the drawer, I've been running the same dozen or so in circulation now for at least 4-5 years, just refilling them. All my stoves use the little green cans, if I allow them to fill overnight they're as full as they were new, and for about $1/can. Plus I don't have another project to do before heading out, same reason I don't like CO2 tanks, and won't run one of those again. Only thing I can't do is run a fireplace for more than an hour or so without swapping tanks... usually that's more than enough. change my mind!
What are you using to refill them? I've looked at this as well because I have about a dozen cans around the house and don't really want to throw them away. I know there are a few options out there, just curious to see what you're using and how well it works.

You can get cheap kits then this but it gives you the idea of how it works. It works best when it is really cold out. you can get more propane into the little greenies.

Thread revival.

I’ve got a 5lb Manchester propane tank I want to mount on my swing arm. There are plenty of commercial brackets from $100-300 on the market which is pretty hard to swallow. Anyone have any new good ideas for mounting since 2014? My goal is this tank with two Jerry cans opposite my 37” spare. Things will be tight. tank is 8” diameter with a 6.5” ring at the bottom.

Hey don't listen to these haters on here, you use your large propane tank. Those little green bottles are for sissy's. I bough a power tank bracket for my tank that goes on my little camper. No really the same thing you are asking about bout you'll get the idea after looking at the photos. My camper has a small aluminum deck on the back so I installed a Husky tool box and then mounted the tank on the side. The bracket is expensive but its top quality and can be mounted to just about anything. I use my propane tank for everything, the heater in my camper, my stove and fire pit.

Sorry, 5 gal bottle with a hose adapter to the 1 gal fittings. I stopped messing with refilling and little bottles everywhere. What's a 1/4 full, what's fuller, so i need to refill some, forgot to refill. They run out in the middle of cooking and you have to replace one and get going again. Buddy heater dies and you gotta change it out. Yah, no more of that non sense. You still have to buy or fill a 20lb bottle and refill all those things anyway. A 5er will last more than half dozen trips if you're just cooking. You keep after it if makes you happy tho. :)

The trick with filling the little green ones is to pull the little over pressure valve out with some pliers to let the vapor vent, then it can fill with liquid more completely. You have to be careful to leave some headspace otherwise they’ll leak a little bit when they get warm

Anyone ever had a little green tank valve failure? Being disposable, I'd be surprised if they spent more than 6 cents making the valve. Reusing the valve and overfilling the tanks seems a bit risky especially if you're storing a bin full of those inside the truck. I like having the tank of propane outside the vehicle, especially when bouncing along a 4wd road.

Yes, occasionally. I always spit into the top of the can to check for leaks…. Sometimes you get a bubbler. Then that can goes directly onto the bbq on the deck where I can run it out on the patio…. I write “bad” on it so I remember not to refill it next time.

My tricks are you definitely need to have the bbq tank upside down, and patience- sometimes I will let them sit for days, it’s a measurable difference compared to stopping when you hear the hissing stop.

Nick I just have a cheap one imported from Brazil. Like this:

I use a similar adapter to Nak. Also smae technique for leak checks. If I get a bubbler due to overfill or failure I either toss it on the back hitch rack of the truck so I don't have to smell it or use it up at home. Usually if its venting it'll calm down after using some gas.
