Thanks man. Just the other day Leanne and I were talking about our first Cruise Moab and all the cool people we met - you were one of the folks we recalled.
Have a great trip, it sounds wonderful!

Will miss you guys!

I was really looking forward to going on this run and meeting some folks but I'm going to have to bail. At this point, my transmission and transfer case reseal job is likely not going to be completed by the 25th. Bummer...

Perry any concerns for a stock 100?
Sweet,I ended up getting a 30mm spacer under the rear coils and some 285/75-16s on today. I'm feeling better and should have my sliders and HAM installed by the weekend.
The potluck is Saturday night, correct? Any food suggestions? Also, is there a bail out if I need to be in Denver by 4pm Sunday?
Drew,
At Tincup you can opt to take Cottonwood pass over to Buena Vista and head home. It will put you on the road back about 1-1.5 hours ahead of if you went over Tincup pass back into St. Elmo.
My recollection was that we were back in St. Elmo about 1:30-2.
Last weekend 285 from BV to Denver wasn't bad at all. The weekend of the 4th it took 2 hours just to get from Buena Vista to FairPlay. It was the sheer volume of traffic mixed with the light in FairPlay.
HTH.
Traffic this summer from the Front Range to the mountains and back has been a complete nightmare. Treeroot, Suzie and I went up 285 a couple of Fridays ago, leaving Denver at noon. It became two lane bumper to bumper stop and go from Conifer all the way to Crow Hill leading down into Bailey. Only on the short single lane stretches did traffic moving over 5-10 mph and it took two and half hours to get to Fairplay. Usually it's two hours to Johnson Village near BV. Going to Montrose last week, leaving Denver at 9:30am on Monday morning I-70 became a moving parking lot just past the Evergreen exit all the way to Georgetown where it opened up a little. Coming home Friday west bound I-70 was bumper to bumper stop and go from the Eisenhower tunnel to Genessee - glad I was eastbound which wasn't too bad. These three situations were all volume related with no construction stoppages. The rest of the roads in my travels the past two weeks have had numerous work stoppages with it taking four hours(!) to get from Montrose to Salida on Hwy 50. Three different half hour stops due to road construction in that stretch. Our tax dollars at work!!.
When planning a trip to the mountains this summer count on much longer driving times than usual.

Can I be put on the wait list? I am not officially a member yet, so this run would fulfill the requirement for membership. I will be camping and can meet at the coords on Thursday. Let me know if there is room, so I can make a plan. Sorry for the late request.

My wife has wanted to do this run for years - and it looks as though we might be able to do it this year; unfortunately it's last second. From reading the posts I see this event is limited to the number of trucks. Is there a way to get on the wait list this close to the event? If possible my wife and I would be grateful to attend this weekend - even if we find out last second we are lucky enough to get in.
Cheers,

Perry....I'm going to be a last minute decision. My dad had a stroke this weekend, and I'm trying to figure everything out. My sister drove over to KY to be with him for now, but we all have jobs and are going to have to piece the next few weeks together. If there is another person who is 100% in for this! I will give up my spot. I just can't even think about getting ready or other stuff until I figure out what is going on back in KY.
He has lost use (for now) of his left leg and some of his left arm. Not bad as far as strokes go, but...
After watching him sprint after the C&T train, it's hard to even imagine him not being able to walk!

I plan to arrive Thursday morning sometime to reserve camp for the weekend. Everyone is welcome to show up at there discretion. I know in past years lots of folks would show up Friday night. We will be camping along the Middle Quartz Creek Road; 38 36'56.60" N 106 26'23.63 W if i'm reading Google Earth correctly.... It's a big enough site that will fit the group. If your pulling a pop up and don't want to go over Hancock to get to camp, you can get there via Parlin and Highway 50.
For the pot luck, i'll plan to cook up some burgers and brats. Feel free to bring whatever. I think it was 200 that we had 6 or 7 Dutch Ovens going

Perry has the correct coordinates. It is usually open this time of year (at least in the middle of the week), but you never know with the way people are getting out of town this summer. This spot isn't a campground, but dispersed camping and on a road that generally requires high clearance to access which increases our chances that the RV's haven't been there yet.
The family and I will be leaving Denver Wednesday around noon, hopefully securing camp around 4pm. We will bring an extra tent or two to put up, so that we can call it ours if need be. There are no pit toilets or running water in this area, so either bring a shovel (and biodegradable toilet paper) or a bucket with potty bags in it. Middle Quartz Creek is 25 feet away, so one could reasonable treat or boil water for drinking, but we usually bring 10 gallons from home plus a big thing of 2 dozen water bottles.
For the pot luck, we usually have lots of food to have everybody full that night (Thanks again Kenny for the Asian inspired food!) as long as everybody brings something. We are making chips and guacamole, prepared fresh that night, and maybe something for a dutch oven desert or something.
Post up any questions and it looks like a good tight group this year to make another epic Ghost Town Tun!
Paul--Sorry to hear about your dad. Best wishes here from us to you guys!
So excited, even after 5 days in Ouray. One of the best runs ever, not tough, scenic and historical! I'm gonna try and get up there Friday night. 8-9ish.
Thanks Perry and Nathaniel!
