Hello. I am new to the area and to the club but was able to meet a few of you at the blow off work and go wheeling event a few weeks ago and had a great time. My weekend just freed up and I would love to come along and bring a buddy if you guys have the space?
Quick questions. I understand along mineral creek there are no pit toilets or water. Along the routes sat/sun are there any pit toilets? Is there any fresh water sources along the routes sat/sun - or pack in enough for entire weekend? Thanks to all who have spent an inordinate amount of time putting this together.
Probably best to pack in water. There may be some in St.Elmo, but don't count on it. There is a restroom at the Alpine Tunnel. We will be stopping in TinCup Sunday, that has a small genere store. Iirc, there are no restrooms along Middle Quartz Creek road.

Perry, sorry for the last minute change but we have out of town guests coming for the weekend so we will not make the run. Hope you can assign this slot to someone else. Maybe next year.....Terry

Pitkin and Quartz creek campground both have put toilets and potable water. Pitkin CG is just a short run down the road, not necessarily walking distance. Pitkin has a general store as well. Like I mentioned before, the area we will be camping in is disbursed camping so either bring a shovel or potty bags, as well as, biodegradable TP. If your plan is to be with us from Saturday into Sunday a 24 pack of water will be more than enough.
I'm on the fence whether I should pull my 1943 T3 military trailer. While I don't have any doubt my 40 can pull the trailer anywhere, I'm curious if there is any switchbacks where I would have to back in a tight area. I've never been in this area, so a heads up would be nice.

This is our firs time attending this run and are excited to do so. With regards to the camping for Fri/Sat night...are both nights going to be at the same location; Quartz Creek? I wasn't sure if each night we will be at different spots or base camping out of one spot for the entire weekend. Thanks for your time required to respond!!

We will be base camping both nights at our spot along Middle Quartz Creek. Excited to have you guys along!
And I will be heading out here soon to go meet up with Nathaniel and reserve said camp for the weekend. May be out of range till the run starts. So for thos that are meeting up Saturday morning instead of Friday night, remember 8:30 meet up time at St. Elmo. We will depart Around 9am to make our first stop at Romely and the Mary Murphy mine.
I'm planning on bringing campfire donuts for the pout luck if that's okay? I don't want to mess everyone up by not bringing something more substantial though, we'll bring a big side to share as well.
Our site got taken by the time we got out there yesterday. Found a better spot 3/4 mile closer to Pitkin.

Basically just across the creek from the intersection of fsr 767 and fsr 769. East side. We made a sign out of a white garbage bag. Our 1991 beige Coleman pop up is near the middle.
As discussed in my low idle thread, my 80 decided to act up on Wednesday night...three days before the trip I've been looking forward to for so long...
Glass half full, I'm happy it didn't happen on the trip and mess with anyone else's time.
If there's any wait list left, please give them my spot...sorry for the late notice guys - but relieved it didn't happen on the trail. Have a blast for me.
I've been messing with Firestone and aligning my front end the past two days to have them cross thread a wheel lug yesterday. I broke it off last night trying to rotate my tires. I'm 50/50 at best if I can get it done and head down tonight with the family.
They said they'll fix it but I really don't want them messing with anything other than the alignment!
Yeah, Robbie said I could run 4 for a little bit. I found the parts locally so I am headed out to try to knock it out. It's complicated an already busy day. I hope we can still pull it off.
