My garage at home has the non-running Toyota Corona, piles of junk in storage, and camping gear. It's almost completely been taken over by black widow spiders - big ones hide in the corners and the overhead rafters are FULL of clouds of tiny baby widows. I'm wondering if I should bug bomb it.

The shop I rent (60 won't fit into my home garage) isn't so bad. I have lots of unorganized 60 parts in piles around the perimeter, but I'm able to drive into the middle. My buddy has a Chevy Astro camper in pieces in the back half - don't go back there, you'll never make it out.

Y'all are inspirational though. I really need to clean up both of my spaces.

@Stuckinthe80s for the air hoses I use bike hooks. The cords is nothing more than 2 deck screws. I'm sure the coil doodad like Daniel's is better, but for me this works and I like 0 moving parts.

I love my reel for the air hose.

I just leave my air hose on the floor the last place I dropped it. If it was outside sometimes I just close the overhead door over it. I mean I might need it ourtdoors again the next time.

My favorite upgrade is lighting. I bought some led shop lights off Amazon and they are really nice. Amazon product ASIN B01HBT3BVM
My other favorites are my big husky tool box and the homemade overhead storage which utilizes the unused spaces in the upper part of the garage.

But my workbench is always a disaster. I will clean it off occasionally just to clutter it up the next day.

Careful what you wish for.......more space doesn't equal more room or organization! LMAO......I still don't have enough room for my junk, tools and business. I'm still a year out for insulations, heat, design/cut/sew/patterning suite and tool bench area......View attachment 107474

This thread gave me the motivation to build the work bench I’ve wanted in our “new” house that we’ve been in for over a year now. When we moved in I had an immediate turbo issue to deal with, and then came differential swaps, front axle, driveshaft, steering, and other engine projects so I didn’t really have the time/energy to build. I’ve been getting by with tools on top of my tool box base and the table saw but that needed to stop. Once I get it cleaned up maybe I can take a better picture but I made good progress today. 30” deep, 10’ long, 42” high to clear the Husky tool box underneath.

Next step I think is to build a home set of tools separate from my truck set of tools. Right now they are one and the same, which makes it hard to stay organized when I have to empty out and dig through my truck toolbox every time I need something.

What dimensions are other peoples work benches? @Romer?

My workbench is an “L” shape made with three 6’ craftsman workbenches. I want to build a 2nd bench/welding table on caster wheels.

2nd set of tools is a must IMHO. I hate pulling stuff from my truck box All the time. As I have a detached garage I have a small tool box I keep in the house with a 3rd set of the very basics to save me a trip.

So that one is 24” deep and 41-42” high? I guess I’m not doing too bad then.

If you like pegboard, you should see my garage. A previous owner lined the entire inside of the garage with pegboard.
