Each generation's music.

BTW, there's actually a documentary about the TR-808.

This thread's about discovery, though. The very first post 10 years ago now was "Wristwatch" by Hungry Kids of Hungary, a band I ended up liking quite a bit. I don't know how I heard about them or the song. I think it might have something to do with Apple Watches or something. I dunno.

"You Can Call Me Al"
Old Salt Union
Old Salt Union S/T (2017)

Old Salt Union has been around for a few years. They come from Belleville, IL. So @Hulk, you may not recognize him by sight but the dude with the tattoos on the left at the beginning is Jesse Farrar, who plays bass. Yeah, of those Belleville Farrars, Jay is his uncle.

Karen stopped at Twist & Shout to grab some tapes for the truck. We need some new tunes for camping this weekend. Nice that Numero is reissuing a bunch of great 90s & early 00s stuff.

@Notyourmomslx450, I was looking to see if I had any old ticket stubs and found this one.

The reason I kept it was that it was actually the guests in this case were both from Seattle.

The first was Hovercraft, who I think set out to be the hardest band to listen to on purpose. Their abrupt sound coupled with the unspoken intention of the sound guy at Mississippi Nights to inflict pain by decibel, well, yeah.

The guys second on the bill had just named themselves about a month before but didn't have a record or anything yet...

That was for $8.25. And look @Hulk, even then $1.25 in fees so it was really $7 to see the friggin' Foo Fighters in a venue that held maybe a few hundred people. Dang we were lucky to have the scene we did in the 80s and 90s.

I keep missing too many zoos when they are in town. Leo and a girl who plays amazing alto sax have a lot of videos and stuff too, even some tutorials on the wild stuff he does. So cool.

And then the dancing!! I was out of breath in marching band...

Long time lurker. First time poster.
Something drew me to click that 808 movie. I look forward to watching it all later.
I was in public High School in Manhattan from 83-87. I took the subway from Queens every day. I was not so cool as to be in that music scene or go to Studio 54. I regret never going to CBGB. But I did make it a few places they should never have let me into, and parties around the Village, Soho, etc. had the music. You could drop me into any one of those sidewalk or subway scenes. It was a pretty awesome HS experience.
Now I see I need some of you to help me build a LongCruiser soundtrack. How sick would it be if LongCruiser had turntables!
