Saturday
8am - 9am Mandatory Driver's Training Meeting at campsite. This will be an example of how a trail leader conducts the Driver Meeting before a Cruise Moab run, and there will be breakout groups for you to run scenarios. Towards the end we will divide into the trail assignments for the day.
9am - 4pm (ish)
Option A: Same as Friday.
Option B: 9am - noon, Scenario based trail leader training at or near campsite. We will set you up to situations similar to ones really encountered at Cruise Moab to work together as a group and resolve.
4pm? - 6pm - dinner and a beer around the campfire (Thanks to Moab Brewery for their beer donations!) BYO grub and other drinks
6pm - 7pm Driver's meeting around the campfire. Debrief the day, more leader training, quick overview of Saturday plans
Sunday
8:30 am - 9am Same as Friday but shorter.
9am - ? Same as Friday but with planning so you get home at the time you need.
Caravan home after the trails. Feel free to takeoff earlier if needed!
PLEASE NOTE:
We did not include time sightseeing or getting dinner in town. That is intentional but not forgotten. The idea of the weekend is come together as a group, work as a group, learn as a group, have a heckuva great time as a group. The morning and evening sessions are important. If you want to be part of the group but not do the work - go elsewhere! Type 2 fun here!
Regarding fun, gotta have that too. Plenty of time after 7PM. We are camped less than 30 min from town. Also, if you run just one trail Friday and Saturday you likely have time to relax at camp before 7PM OR check out town a bit and still be ready to go at 7PM. If you run two trails each day you will be hustling back to camp after trail two. If you don't run a trail Sunday, that's a great time to check out town after the morning meeting.
ATTENTION! All attendees please go to the Google Sheet below and fill in the info for anyone attending!

THANK YOU!!!
WHAT??? - The official Cruise Moab 2025 Prerun
WHEN??? - March 21-23 (I will probably be there the whole week March 17 - 23 if anyone wants to come out early) This is the weekend between spring breaks for CSU/Jeffco and CU/DPS. Last year there was a major blizzard in the Colorado Mountains the week of the prerun which really limited participation. Rain/snow or shine!!
WHO??? - ANYONE who wants to be a trail leader or gunner for Cruise Moab, or anyone who wants to learn more about how to be a trail leader. Everyone is welcome! Also for anyone who is an experienced trail leader who wants to pass on some of their knowledge and experience.
WHY??? - We always need more trail leaders and the main reason I have heard over the years is some people are not comfortable being a leader, and some people are not comfortable leading if they don't know the trail. This week(end) will help people in both camps! We will have some expert trail leaders there to go over a lot of trail leader information, (more details soon!) and we will run any trail to get to know it better if you are interested in leading it. We will have plenty of experienced drivers and leaders to learn from.
WHERE??? - Moab, duh.

We will have a big group camping as usual, and please feel free to hotel or airbnb it in town, just know that the leader training part will be around 9 am at the campsite, which the last few years has been off of 313 near the Lone Mesa Campground, roughly 30 minutes north of downtown Moab.
If you have never been to an old-school CM Pre-run, they are a lot of fun, but a lot of driving and a busy weekend. This week(end) is actually my favorite part of Cruise Moab. I learned most of what I know about 4 wheeling (especially in Moab) from learning from our Rising Sun experts on these runs.
Again, all are welcome! I am also reaching out to the Wasatch club and Bookcliff Cruisers to get some more attendees.
FYI there will be plenty of passenger seats available if you (or your rig) is not up for driving! And if you are not sure if you can afford the gas to get out there and back, please reach out to me here!
Thanks all, I can't wait and hope to see many of you out there!!

Please bring your FRS/GMRS radio (or buy one from Rugged Radios for 20% off!) and take a look at the vehicle requirements from the cruise moab site to make sure you are compliant. We will not be doing an official inspection at the pre-run, but we will call out anything we see that is unsafe.
