Will you be able to do elephant Hill on Wednesday? I plan on requesting a slot at 8 AM Tuesday morning. At this time I don’t know whether we can apply for a group of three or the weather we have to do a single registration?
Yes, Wednesday is perfect for me. I’ll message you Max.

PRERUN SCHEDULE - I will also add this to the first post, and will send it out to the emails that are on the Google sheet I sent earlier

@Inukshuk schedule for the Cruise Moab Prerun 2025

Thursday - arrive at campsite (Location will be sent to the group early next week when @timmbuck2 arrives. We will be in general vicinity of the Lone Mesa group campground off of 313. Campfire, your favorite beverage, and relaxing.

Friday
8am - 9am Mandatory Driver's Training Meeting
at campsite. This will be an example of how a trail leader conducts the Driver Meeting before a Cruise Moab run, and there will be breakout groups for you to run scenarios. Towards the end we will divide into the trail assignments for the day.

9am - 4pm (ish) Trail runs! Ideally each will be led by an experienced Cruise Moab trail leader. Please update the Google Sheet at Google Sheet - Prerun Attendee info to let us know what trails you know, and what trails you want to learn.

4pm? - 6pm - dinner and a beer around the campfire (Thanks to Moab Brewery for their beer donations!) BYO grub and other drinks

6pm - 7pm Driver's meeting around the campfire. Debrief the day, more leader training, quick overview of Saturday plans

Saturday
8am - 9am Mandatory Driver's Training Meeting
at campsite. This will be an example of how a trail leader conducts the Driver Meeting before a Cruise Moab run, and there will be breakout groups for you to run scenarios. Towards the end we will divide into the trail assignments for the day.

9am - 4pm (ish)
Option A
: Same as Friday.
Option B: 9am - noon, Scenario based trail leader training at or near campsite. We will set you up to situations similar to ones really encountered at Cruise Moab to work together as a group and resolve.

4pm? - 6pm - dinner and a beer around the campfire (Thanks to Moab Brewery for their beer donations!) BYO grub and other drinks

6pm - 7pm Driver's meeting around the campfire. Debrief the day, more leader training, quick overview of Saturday plans

Sunday
8:30 am - 9am
Same as Friday but shorter.

9am - ? Same as Friday but with planning so you get home at the time you need.

Caravan home after the trails. Feel free to takeoff earlier if needed!

PLEASE NOTE:

We did not include time sightseeing or getting dinner in town. That is intentional but not forgotten. The idea of the weekend is come together as a group, work as a group, learn as a group, have a heckuva great time as a group. The morning and evening sessions are important. If you want to be part of the group but not do the work - go elsewhere! Type 2 fun here!

Regarding fun, gotta have that too. Plenty of time after 7PM. We are camped less than 30 min from town. Also, if you run just one trail Friday and Saturday you likely have time to relax at camp before 7PM OR check out town a bit and still be ready to go at 7PM. If you run two trails each day you will be hustling back to camp after trail two. If you don't run a trail Sunday, that's a great time to check out town after the morning meeting.

Hey Dave, we plan on doing a pre-pre-run on Wednesday to elephant hill. Just because I think it’ll be easier to get a reservation during the week rather than on the busy weekend.
Sadly, I have to work on Wednesday and Thursday. If we don't make Elephant hill on this go around maybe we can do it again a bit later in the year?

ATTENTION!!!!

One of the benefits (this year) of attending the prerun is that because the trail selection for cruise moab is the same day, you get to pre-choose the trails you want to run. Please go to the same link for the google sheet where I need your contact info, go to the second tab labeled "Trail Selection" and choose your trail for each day. I will then make sure it is prepopulated next Saturday for the official trail selection.

PLEASE get this done by Wednesday night! I cannot guarantee your trail selection if I do not have it in the google sheet by Wednesday night.

ALSO, if you end up NOT attending the prerun, you will not be added to the prepopulated list and will have to choose your trails with everyone else. :)

Thanks all!!!!!

Just got caught up. @timmbuck2 and @Bub the lists are really helpful! We have a great crew coming!

I'll be facilitating the morning and evening training and debrief sessions. Here's the Second Teaching Moment. 😉

  • We will have a risk management module Friday morning. At Cruise Moab all persons in a vehicle are required to sign liability form (parents for their minor children). The official CM forms are from the insurance company. The attached PDF is one I have prepared. I am an attorney in Colorado. This is for information only. It is NOT LEGAL ADVICE. You will be asked to sign it. You do not have to sign it. The lesson in being asked is that you have the opportunity to read it in advance (an element of enforceability I will discuss), experience the ease or discomfort of being asked, and be better able to relate to participants questions. Sometimes when I put a trip together I require it. We'll discuss why. We'll discuss how this one is different in a particular way from most you ever have seen. I encourage it here for all of us, but I have no authority to require it this trip. You will not be shamed (much) 9no, not at all) if you decline.

  • I have attached my "Trip Packing Checklist". This one works for me. It changes over time. It's in Word so you can make it your own.

I will leave Eagle Wednesday am and planning to be there Friday 8 am . My kids are camping up the road and doing high lining in those canyons . I am spending some time with them Wednesday and Thursday. Apparently it is only 30 minutes up the road.

Was hoping to be posting from our group campsite but I got in late and all of the main sites are full or taken and the road that goes farther to where we used to Camp is now closed and there is a giant huge field there that I'm sure we'll be able to camp but it was late and dark and I'm in a hotel now in moab. :-) I'll head out there late tomorrow morning and see what I can find. The hotel front desk lady did say that there was a marathon this weekend they were sold out and she expects a lot less people around tomorrow
