Hopefully everything works out Brian!:bowdown:.

Man, i'm getting excited for this trip. Thought it was further out than a week. Doh. Hope to pick up some BCB beer from Nathaniel for the trip.

Camp. As mentioned, we will be base camping the whole trip. it's a good central location for both Antonito and Chama. Camp will basically be at the old track maintenance town of Sublette, NM (it's also an old gathering spot for the mountain men). To access, you can take FDR103 from Highway 17 (heading west from Antonito, Co). Pretty easy to get to. Dan S, post up if i've forgotten anything.

do you have the coordinates of camp?

Right near mile marker 29 on Highway 17 (just east of it) turn south on D.5. When you get to the T intersection, go right (west). The road will then turn Left (south) and be named FR 103. Follow it through the twists and turns--don't turn off of it. When the road finally gets on top of a ridge, and makes a broad turn to the right, look left for your first glimpse of the train tracks. One you see the tracks, you are very close. Look for us camped out on the left (south) side of the road in an aspen grove.

I'm hoping to head down a little earlier, but I may have to work on firewood through wednesday and leave with the caravan.

Will be fun on the bun either way!

I'm in the Springs and looking to head down Wednesday afternoon. Is there a group going down and if so, where are you meeting or should I just catch you in camp Wednesday evening? Assuming Thursday trail ride start from camp location...

Correct, we will leave Thursday morning from camp.

I plan on driving 285 south, so it would be pretty easy to meet in Salida or BV....

Thanks for the info Dan. I don't think the Mrs. will be able to leave that early from work so we will plan on meeting you at camp. Either later that evening or if too late just stay in Antonito and meet up the next morning. Any specific time you are trying to depart?

I'm planning on rolling out of Denver with Perry early Wednesday. We'll be heading down 285. Hoping to detour to Del Norte on the way down and have lunch at Three Barrel brewing. Would be great to join the caravan if others are planning a Wednesday morning departure.

Will be monitoring 146.460

If I don't head out earlier, I'll probably tag along with you guys. Sounds like a worthwhile detour.

No specific time. Early as possible, unless I decide to cut firewood on my property in the morning.

The campsite is 35 minutes from Antonito, and honestly pretty easy to find since I am sure we will have a campfire and stuff out. There aren't many places to stay in Antonito, Alamosa is your best bet if you feel the need to get into a hotel that quick.

Once you get to Antinito, might as well come join us. ;)

Long time lurker, first time poster.

If I make it - now planning - I'm going to take Friday as a day of rest. Train was amazing when we did it 2 years ago. My favorite part was a nap to the clickety clack of the wheels. But a restful day is on my mind right now/ Maybe some exploring of nearby attractions like the Beer Can Castle. Chasing Thursday and Saturday. Monday being Columbus day is anyone planning to take that extra day?

I'll drive down from Denver with the Wednesday PM crew and always up for a caravan.

I'll have my old dogs Zan and Jayna with me and happy to have a puppy along to annoy them.

Who is bringing cards against humanity?

I'll bring a pot - a poike pot - to the pot luck.

Dan, Dan and Dan,

Perry and I were planning a Wednesday morning departure from Denver. That work for a caravan? :)

It does indeed.

I will be on CB Channel 4. Unless I can find the charger for my FT60 in which case I will get on 146.460.

Have we got a head count on total participants? Trying to determine how much to make for the pot luck.

Unfortunately, don't count me or my boy. :(

Everytime I turned around there was one more reason to stay home and be a grown-up. The boy has a big school project wrapping up at the end of the week, so it would be wise to stay home so he can see it through...

Hopefully the RS crew will run this next year!
