Yes 101a1. It’s got a set of Timbrens, they made a huge difference. I used it in this fashion for many years without. The axle would sit on the bumpstops, then I lost a bump and the spring would invert. That is when I did the upgrade. My next upgrade will be to swap out the axle for one with brakes and a hub that will fit a 6-bolt Toyota wheel so that I could run he trucks spare in the even of a flat.

That makes sense. I’m gonna have to look into doing that to mine. Thanks

I had a set laying around. Honestly the trailer is hard on them. I've already had to replace one, with the other cracking now. There is no direct fitment of course. I took a set originally ordered for my 80 and fabricated the mounting solution. I think I need to weld in a pad on the frame for them to contact more cleanly. The actual Timbrens are mounted inverted on top of the axle verse the standard frame mount layout. Other than converting it to 12v LED lights this is by far the best mod I've done to the trailer to date.

what about using something like a car/truck spring in there in addition to the leafs? would that work or make it super wonky and handle like crap?

I suppose anything is possible. The Timbrens work great. Just need a larger contact patch than the skinny frame rail so they deform less when compressed.
