I see some comments about motorcycles, is it cool if I bring a couple bikes along? I have a CRFx and a KLR, both stock exhaust and quiet.

Yes, moto's are cool. Just set a good example for the kids. There will be moto and truck runs on sat and sunday. I have a scavenger hunt in the works.

I'm scouting the route later today. I'll post accurate directions with pictures when I get back. I have my fingers crossed that all the rain will result in being able to have a real fire and burn some charcoal for the Dutch ovens.

Is there any water at or near camp? wondering about swimming/playing/shower source potential.

Also what about drinking water- can we fill a jug at Sylvan Lake, or just fill at home and pull over two passes?

I'll swing past Sylvan lake and check on water availability. There is none on the property.
I'll get some more accurate time estimates. But, I think there are some fishing/swimming ponds about 20min away, Sylvan is about 45min so is Reudi Reservoir.

Corbet, sorry you can't make it. We'll eat some cobbler and bacon for you. I was hoping you were gonna recreate that doughnut burger for us all.

Wish I could but just not in the cards this weekend. I might be locked out in the garage again building barriers. Or there are plenty of other honey-do's to get caught up on.

Directions:

Get to Sylvan lake state park. This is well signposted from the Eagle exit. Plan on 1/2 hour from I-70 to Sylvan. Road is sign posted West Brush creek rd

1 mile past Sylvan. Stay left and follow sign to Crooked Creek Pass 4mi.

At Crooked Creek pass stay straight following CR400 signposted to Thomasville.

Stay on 400 for 9 miles, you will pass mile post 27 on rt side.

Turn Right on FR519(spring creek rd on some maps). Follow this for 4 miles, it will bring you to camp.

There are a few spurs to the right, DO NOT take them.

There is a barb wire cow fence you will have to move, please close gate

You will see a sign that says locked gate ahead.

Pass through locked gate. Gate will appear locked, just lift cable and swing.

Stay to left.

you will pass a small green and brown house, continue downhill across meadow, between cut aspen trees.

You will veer left 2 times, I would call it straight or slightly left.

There is no cell phone service. I will have 146.460 on when I am near my truck.

I spoke with Sylvan lake and while the do have water, the camp host explained to me that it was for campground use only. I plan to bring about 10-15 gallons, and bottled water to drink.

The path is currently marked with small purple string tied to trees on the left side at all questionable intersections. I will add paper plates too on my way there.

It is about an hour from Sylvan lake state park. 18miles. Mag chloride for 14mi, subaru grade last 4miles. It is steep and will require 4lo if you are pulling a camper.

I wonder what the travel time difference would be coming in from the south (Fryingpan Road via Hagerman)? The location is (seemingly) a lot closer to Ruedi than it is to Sylvan Lake.

You can see that same dilapidated structure in your camp picture on Google Maps.

Matt you may be right. I've just always gone through Eagle. I certainly encourage people to find alternate routes to camp. For example, going to through Yoman Park to Crooked creek pass. OR FR414/413??

The much anticipated scavenger hunt is ready. Created by my daughter age 6.
Print it out, find all the items on the list, present it at camp and get a prize.
