Found a few more pages with corrugated hard tops and scanned them in. It looks like all of the literature shows the wide rear step. I have a new narrow step but I think I'll try to fix this one at some point.

Wait, Mike was doing the celebrating with the Gruet, not me. See the pic with the case box in the back of the 40.
Sorry for the digression, 'root!

7 men and their junk? :hill:

Blew an oil line that I didn't know was kinked. Oil pressure has been good so I don't think it was closed off enough to do any harm. Came home and new tires showed up while I was over at Kipper's!

Tall skinnies - what all the cool kids wear ;)

The wide angle lens on the phone distorts the tape measure. The Firestone NDTs measure 30"x5"x15"

Wow! a tire too skinny for 40 rims!? ;)

Those are cool, Mike. Looking forward to seeing them mounted and aired up (or down). :thumb:

Land Cruiser AAA rescue! Thank you for the tow John.

Fuel tank was plugged. We thought it was clear when we drained it but I guess there was still some chunks in there.

35x10.50 are tall skinny but those are, but like Martin says, really skinny. Will Discount Tire not mount them because they are NOT wide enough to fit the stock rim properly?

The approved rim width for 7.00 x 15 is 5" through 6 1/2".

Yeah, it's just funny that those 7.00" tires are measuring out at 4.75" ! ;)

I'm sure it will be fine when they are mounted and aired up!

Do they require tubes??

Yup, tubes are here. Just waiting on the powder coater. The folks on Mud said they will measure differently mounted and aired up.

So that's why the fuel level doesn't work... :)

Tank is full of nasty stuff but I don't know what to use to clean it. If fuel doesn't touch it, I can't imagine anything stronger. I threw some radiator cleaner in there for the night and will use compressed air to dry off the water in the morning. I also discovered the fuel filter was backwards so all the gunk in the tank was in the middle of the filter instead of the bowl. Not thinking, I reversed it and pumped all that junk into the carb. Carb has been cleaned out but it got dark...more tomorrow.

Vinegar is one option.
Leave it in for a while.
Works good on cast iron restorations also.
it will eat it if left in long enogh and sloshed around a while..maybe with some gravel vinegar sloshing it might work

Also we used to use dilluted muriatic acid on tanks the radiator places wouldn't clean due to size.
Which will surely work but wouldn't want to mess with disposal and cleanup.

I think I remember ige posting a thread about a radiator shop left that would still hot tank fuel tanks. That would be good.

My bad on the filter..didn't pay attention to the arrows (assuming there are some)
Just hooked it up like the old one
Sorry

I think I did it when I swapped the fuel pump. I had all that out and I don't remember checking when I put it back.

Acetone? I could spare a few brain cells...
