I had two s1 esprits back in like 2015/2016. I love the lines on those cars, couldn’t afford to keep up with them back then. I feel tempted to dive back in from time to time, they’re not made in Japan, that’s for damn sure…
I was tempted by one in 2003. Had a the cash in hand after a killer month at work. It was a 1991 turbo in red. Had it been any other color the story may have been different.

Dang, that is a pretty clean rig. Drivetrain looks like it could use some TLC, but damn damn damn.
I’ve never really been drawn to old domestic 4x4’s, something is happening to me lol

Check this out, it’s in town. Are all these old fords and chevys actually cheap? This one went pending sale and now it’s not. That concerns me. I get weird vibes from this dealer.

Like @Corbet says, red makes it easier to walk away but still…

Yeah, that (second gen square body?) is totally unappealing to me. That F150 though, reminds me of my childhood and is way cooler. :ROFLMAO:

They have a weird business model. Everything is consigned and as part of that they detail every vehicle and hold onto it until it sells. If it doesn't sell or you choose a different route you pay for the detail. What blows my mind is they store a lot of them outside in a pretty quiet industrial area behind a chain link fence.

I once got smoked by one of those silverados (90's vortec model) in my Supra Turbo in high school. Much embarrassment. :o

1980 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55

Another middle eastern truck.
Sara found this one on BaT. Placed a shot in the dark bid hoping for a FJ55 daily. No joy. A girl can dream.
Closed at $20,500.

I’ve been hoping one of these would fall in my lap someday. This one has the right stuff under the wrong color. Almost got a blue one down here with some hail damage for cheap but it slipped away.

This FJ60 was built by a good friend of mine in Texas. It wasn’t originally destined for auction - it was a labor of love for a friend of his who’s no longer interested.

This is one of the finest specimens I’ve ever seen. Jimmy is incredibly meticulous and thorough, and there’s a million page build thread on Mud with every single bit of documentation a buyer could ever hope for.

Edit: there’s a comment in the auction saying this is who you want to buy a restored Land Cruiser from, and I couldn’t agree more. This is not a fly by night shop or a flipper. It’s a guy who’s obsessed with 60s, someone who lives and breathes them. A well known person in the community means there’s accountability. He’s also somebody gracious enough to get on the phone and spend an hour shooting the $hit and answering all your questions, good or bad. He’s probably one of the only humans on the planet I would trust laying a finger on my own truck. If anybody is looking for a turnkey gem … this is the one.
