This FJ60 was built by a good friend of mine in Texas. It wasn’t originally destined for auction - it was a labor of love for a friend of his who’s no longer interested.

This is one of the finest specimens I’ve ever seen. Jimmy is incredibly meticulous and thorough, and there’s a million page build thread on Mud with every single bit of documentation a buyer could ever hope for.

Edit: there’s a comment in the auction saying this is who you want to buy a restored Land Cruiser from, and I couldn’t agree more. This is not a fly by night shop or a flipper. It’s a guy who’s obsessed with 60s, someone who lives and breathes them. A well known person in the community means there’s accountability. He’s also somebody gracious enough to get on the phone and spend an hour shooting the $hit and answering all your questions, good or bad. He’s probably one of the only humans on the planet I would trust laying a finger on my own truck. If anybody is looking for a turnkey gem … this is the one.
It's beautiful, but it's too perfect. I would never want to wheel it on anything harder than a dirt road. Maybe if you have serious money then you don't have to worry about those sorts of things -- you just use it for XX years and then have it restored again. But for me, I would cringe at every scratch.

Totally get that. I like that my personal 60 has a little rust! But different strokes for different folks too.

For what it's likely to go for on BAT, it probably isn't going to get wheeled at all...

That is the first 60 I have seen with more than 200k miles on it that doesn't have the usual rip in the side of the driver's seat. The description says the front seat cushions were replaced, I wonder if the covers were replaced as well, I started to read the build thread but TLDR. I also notice the headlight washer bottle has fluid in it meaning it isn't cracked.

3 hours left… It’ll be interesting to see where this lands. For whatever reason BAT dropped four 60 Series trucks at the same time. I wonder why? Seems like that would divide the bidding. I guess maybe they make a flat fee per auction, so maybe they don’t care.

Whenever I hear Bertone my 1970s brain can only think of:

We had Dad's 61 on Elephant Hill 26 hours after it left a paint booth in NM. That includes putting all the stuff like door handles and trim back on, driving to Moab, sleeping, and then leading E-Hill. I'd do it again too.
