Unfortunately, those really good hose clamps were too large for my radiator hoses and too large for my heater hoses. So I came in to buy more and couldn’t get the really good ones in the heater hose size but I opened a sealed box and bought $206.82 worth of T bolt clamps for $10 that will work on radiator hoses.
At $.57 each, it was hard to resist and anybody who comes visit me at the long cruiser garage is welcome to take a pair to use on their radiator hoses!

By the way, I have a ton of hose clamps I can’t use so I’ll be bringing some to the next meeting to share.

Because of you guys I went a few days ago when I found a chance after work. The store I visited was mostly empty.

Still got a few spare metric & SAE taps, hose clamps, plumbing fittings, clips, 100' of 4 & 10 awg wire, battery puller, wrenches, oil filter housing, thread repair kits, a few Schrader valve bits, and Mothers car wash.

The register hit it's 100 item limit and the guys at the store gave me everything after that for free. Advance Auto then emailed me two $10 coupons. I accidentally went to a store that was not liquidating so it had a lot more stuff but at full price. I used the $20 coupons to buy an Irwin USA made nut extractor set for $12 instead of $32.

I'm done buying extra parts and tools. Maybe.

After 100 items was free!??

So... With all the fittings and smaller stuff the guy at the register kept ringing everything up. Once it totalled the purchase was going to be over $1000 at full price. The other guy working that night heard what was going on. He'd had that computer issue happen before. He and I had also been chatting about project cars and stuff while I was first wandering the aisles. Seems he's good friends with another Wasatch Cruiser member, Scott, who just had a kid. Anyway. The second guy I had got to know comes over and says the computers get confused after they reach a limit. So you have to delete items from the total until you end up below that limit and then the discounts get applied.

Once the first dude deleted enough things, I understood 100 items being that limit, they just gave me the deleted items since they were deleted in the computer.

In hindsight it would have been optimal to have the most expensive stuff be in the deleted items. The guys on duty didn't seem to care one way or another. How I pulled stuff from my cart the 4 awg wire was one of the first and most expensive single item at $43. You live and learn. Still it worked out nicely because the oil filter housing and Mothers wash were at the end of what I pulled from the cart for maybe $35 and I didn't have to pay those.

It's what I call free ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ymmv 😏

So I admit I might have an addiction to great deals. Anything better than 50% off.

I explored another Advance Auto in the Northern Utah area but found it wasn't doing the liquidation sale thing. However, they did have a couple folding tables set aside with some clearance stuff. On clearance they had a 5 gallon bucket of Fluid Film for $75. My truck will be rust protected for years and years out of this bucket.

If anyone wants some, and you're in the area, give me a heads up. I'll setup the air sprayer and warm up the compressor.
