To the annual Rising Sun official snow run!
This is the first official event for 2025!
where: Yankee hill near Black Hawk, CO
when: Saturday, February 1, 2025

9AM meet up and air down, 930 drivers meeting and roll out
Comms: FRS channel 18 -if you need a radio, loaners will be on hand
What to bring: warm clothes, water, knowledge of appropriate recovery points on your truck, smiles
pizza at Beau Jos in Idaho springs afterward
Post up if you will joining us so we can have an idea for total # of trucks and head count for pizza
If needed due to popular attendance, we will split into 2 groups to reduce trail traffic, 2nd group would have delayed start time
EDIT:
Eric Ross @sierramechanica and some members of Colorado 4x4 rescue and recovery will be joining us to showcase some recovery gear and demonstrate some recovery techniques so stick around after the drivers meeting if you would like get some quality learnin'!
Our reservations at Beau Jos in Idaho Springs is at 4pm, under my name / Rising Sun
Basic Guidelines:
-Keep an eye on the truck in front of you and behind you- watch your spacing as we don't want to leave anyone behind but we also don't want to be too tightly grouped. Backing up is inevitable and will happen at some point
-Anticipate where you are stopping- try to avoid stopping on an incline or in a rut as it may make resuming progress difficult
-Maintain good communication- on inclines and declines, we want one truck at a time to make sure everyone makes it and avoid collisions. Call out when you are clear for the next truck to continue or if you loose progress.
-Know your recovery points and gear- make sure you are attaching to a proper rated point and using rated gear. If you are not sure, please ask
-Stay hydrated, use sunscreen and bring your cold weather gear-
