Those Trail Tamer parabolics look interesting, but I wonder if it's all about road comfort. They look weak with only a 2 pack. The reviews all seem to be positive, but all driveway queens that I've seen. They look to kind of squat in the rear compared to OME.

Collector vehicle, what does that ultimately mean in terms of practical use?

It means i collect 40s. :lmao: You sign an affidavit you won't drive it more than 4500 miles a year. Not sure who is checking up on that.

It also means an emissions test for emissions-required vehicles only once every 5 years. If you don’t live in an area requiring emissions testing it’s pretty much meaningless.

Radiator shroud Installed. Looks like it is cad yellow. Decided not to paint it since I’m running patina. Another one I had looks like it had some cad yellow too. New fan blade as well. I had to hose off a bit of coolant that leaked out from the cap while squeezing the shroud in.

I live in a non-emission area, but collector plates for me cost $167/5 years. Don't tell the state of Colorado, but the rate has dropped over the years - it used to be $250/5 years. So, emissions or not, collector plates are simply cheaper to buy.

Thanks Marco, I think we all want to find them like this. Although the little things you can't see or don't find out til later add up.

I drove it to the meeting now i have gear oil every where. Looks like the parking brake seal needs attention now and a full rebuild. o_O

Yup. I waited until my FJ60 was ready for renewal and took the paperwork and insurance card down to the DMV. Like @SteveH said, it was only $185 for five years. The other reason I wanted to go with collector plates because it is only a matter of time before El Paso County reinstates emissions. At least the 5 year plates gives me a few years if it happens next year.

My '76 and '77 both expire in August this year. Gonna be nice to reset the clock for another 5 here in Teller.

Bart the FJ62 is due for collector plate renewal and emissions testing. Always a gut churning process as they have lowered the numbers required to pass to much less when the truck was brand new.

This is good to know, thanks. I’ve always registered my 60 as a collector vehicle so I’ve never price compared.

My 69 shroud is cad yellow too, but more weathered than yours. Looking good!
