power washed the wheels to get ready for paint, then wire brushed, 2 coats of primer, 2coats of finish.

then replaced the ridiculous coil overs with new black kyb shocks.
bought oem shocks for rear, but oem NLA for fronts so picked these.

then started wire brushing the hubs etc, but didnt get it finished yet.

LOVE the seats... was that the factory color? When did they go to grey?

we think 1967 was the last year, but I really like the spring green and coral, ever since I found this pic on the internet I knew that was what I wanted for this project

That reminds me of everything painted in Florida... every house, every car, every piece of patio furniture. I think it looks really really cool. I would have never known that before this thread. Keep up the good work man. It looks amazing.

(I told my wife, our 40 is next...:Princess::thumb:) I am hoping for a nice shop space in Montana and the snow should provide lots of cruiser building time in the winters.

The color of the seats in Martin's post are more like the color I remember from my '67. I do like the sexy coral of Mike's project.

so we bought all new rubber for all weatherstripping on the car.
Toyota where possible
Racer65 where not
He makes really really high quality parts.

Mike, Jake, and I (with some unsolicited help from John) have been hitting it pretty hard the past few nights. Been really nice, and I am very thankful for the group involvement here.
I think the final assembly push will be obviously much easier, but also I think the product will be better as well with the full group effort!

new felts, rubbers, window channel runs, and wing window seals along with new hardware for the door panels/regulators etc turned out nice.
I don't think I've really ever been in a 40 where the windows didn't rattle, this thing is smooth and tight.
waiting on some more pesky clips from toytoa to put the outter rubber/metal piece on the other door.

also, before the vent went together, we put in racer65's new silicone cowl vent drain tubes. the below is his stock photo, cause I forgot to take pictures. the more of his stuff I get my hands on the more impressed I am with his product.

As hard as getting the driver side tube on was, it's not surprising that when these fail people never replace them. Jake looked like a pretzel on top and in the car getting that tube on.

then one bolt was broken off in the cowl vent,
mike drilled and tapped that out, then a new racer65 vent gasket went on.

The painter did a really nice job on the top.
but the underside (the metal part you can see from inside the car if you look) wasn't done. So we cleaned that all up and coated it.

Also we tapped all the holes in the top, and in the tub sides so hopefully it will go together nicely.
