Different connection for ARB fridge?

The "cigarette lighter" style connection for my ARB fridge is flaky. I seem to recall there was discussion a few years ago on replacing this with a different style of connector. Ideally, I'd like a whole new cord since I do use my fridge in other vehicles (like the minivan) in which I will still need to use the cigarette lighter style connector.

I use the ARB wiring kit, which has a threaded socket for a more "secure" connection. The Anderson connectors are awesome as well.

Joey makes a kit with Anderson connectors that’s really nice. Couple different types so not sure if this link is exactly right for your application.

Second that! I bought that kit from Joey and it's pretty sweet. No chance of that thing ever coming loose on the trail. I got a simple picture show in the link below.

I also just use PowerPoles.

I got the spare hardwire cable so I didn't have to cut up my original Engel cable with the cigarette plug on it in case I want to use the fridge in vehicle with just stock outlets.

Not sure if ARB sells a hardwiring kit like this so might have to cut a cable, not sure about that. I wish these fridges didn't use an unobtainium plug that's proprietary so we could just make up custom cables ourselves. I think it's silly paying $30 for a cable just to get the $2 connector I needed.

Call Slee, get the ARB plug kit. One and done. The two-pin fridge connector is way better. Surprised you made it this long.

Can one of you guys take a photo? I'm looking at the pictures online and I don't understand how this works. It looks like it still takes the cigarette lighter plug?

Just call Kurt and buy it. It works!
Looks like a cig plug but that tip uncrews (put tip back on for minivan), pins revealded, pins lug into socket, and a lock ring screws on. You know the red tip on your plug comes off too, right?
Andersons work fine too but they are big and you have to make it.

This. Just unscrew the tip of your cigarette lighter plug and you'll see the two pins. The threads on the plug will match the socket and hold it securely in place. I've never once had any connection issues since switching to the ARB threaded socket. Took me all of 30 minutes to install, connecting it directly to the battery.

Once I get through my morning meetings, I'll run out and snap a few pics for you, @Hulk.

Matt, look at your cord with the it connects to a Cigerrete outlet. Look to see if there is a separation and turn it and you will fin a two prong plug. I was surprised when I found this out as well

That then plus into the ARB plug you can buy from Kurt or others. Then just add back on what you screwed off for use in other vehicles

look here at 0:42 to see what I am talking about

@Hulk

Just for a $0.02, the reason I went PowerPole is commonality. I can plug my solar panel controller or compressor in there (or under the hood), have a small fan for the 'Nest, run radios, etc. I have a box full of different PowerPole pieces since I have the PP15/45 every-friggin-where on every-friggin-thing 12V I have that's less than 15 amps draw.

If all that's needed is a reliable fridge plug going the ARB outlet route is totally acceptable.

Matt you could also unscrew your current plug and just disconnect the wires from it, then secure those wires to a fuse block. That's how I run it... and I swap a fridge between 3 vehicles and every one of them has a fuse block in it where I can screw the cord to. It's not super fast, but doesn't happen that often and a lot easier than adding the ARB recepticle and/or Anderson style plugs everywhere.

example in the 60...

Thanks @Romer. This is just what I needed to see. I ordered the ARB surface mount socket.
