AHC is awesome. It's a shame it gets thrown away when most of the time it needs fresh fluid and some troubleshooting. I'm all about it after having ridden in a 100 with AHC. It destroys my ride quality. Considering most wheeling trips start with several hours of on road driving, as well as how most of us use these things day in and day out, the AHC is likely the right choice for most on a vehicle that comes equipped.

I fricken love my LX that's for sure. I really did luck out on mine. My only advice is look every day and look all over the country. I bought mine sight unseen in CA. Snagged it for $12.5k :giggle: I say keep the AHC as long as she'll perform! The parts are all reasonable to replace. I'm getting ready to replace my globes probably sometime in the next 20k miles. Replaced the electric pump and set all the pressures for about $200 including fluid and a couple hours. And it goes low for grandma to get in.

Also keep an eye on autotrader and the lesser used listing sites. Really scour the southwest - communities like Scottsdale seem to have a disproportionate number of nice land cruisers pop up.

Are you opposed to flying out and driving back the right truck?

Wow Crazy to still hear the 100 market is this cutthroat. I remember looking for mine 7 years ago and the good ones went fast. Seems the MArket for these has grown and driven the prices up.

Good Luck in your search @japete01

does the rear window not open in the 470?
They open, but they're manual... like a 1st gen Taco. That's a feature I used to use all the time with the 100 and dogs... give them a little air when they get up, then shut it down when they lay back down and the noise is annoying, repeat. I'd much rather have those power rear windows over rear AC... and am still baffled they wouldn't do rear heat on these- this is 40+ year old technology that every Land Cruiser has... but not the cushy US Prado market? I guess the US buyers were all supposed to live in Palm Springs or something. 10 degrees F this morning driving the kids to school... :banghead:

I see a 200 in your future Tim! The kids will love 4 zone climate control and seat heaters in the back :)

yeah you are probably right Matt... I just have too many vehicles right now to get another one, the logical move is sell the GX to fund a 200 but the GX is also the most practical vehicle for my son to inherit and start driving later this year... he's still a little sketchy shifting the 60 tbh. What is funny is I did rear seaters in the 100 as one of the first mods... used a 4-wire trailer harness as a quick disconnect for the power to allow the seats to come out. Once they were big enough to climb in themselves, the first thing the kids did when they got in was push those buttons..

loving the 3-4 sepearate conversations here, this forum rules!

@gr8fulabe - I lived in that area when I graduated from college, I would worry about rust since they really like to salt after an ice storm. Also...I'm lame and don't have any social media outside of LinkedIn.

Totally agree to steer clear of midwest rust... If you're willing to fly try using an app that searches multiple CL areas. I have one set to search all of the cities that have the best chance of a low rust rig... Which is basically Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, NM and all states west. There are some places like Boise that seem to have nice Cruisers sit on local CL for a long time because the local market is priced out. I've also seen some gems pop up on Car Gurus using same the broad search strategy.

@r.swany thank you, and will do. I have a buddy who used to work at Slee who pretty much sends me everything worthwhile he sees in the Pacific Northwest. I'll look for an app and start searching the Southwest, Utah, and Idaho.

The one I use is C3 Classifieds. Seems to work good!
