Changing date to Dec. 2nd.

It's been a few years and time for another Chinamans run.

Meet at the trailhead at the bottom of Carnage Canyon before 930am. Leave soon after 930am.
There are often other groups we will want to get ahead of.

The trail is "Difficult" and will test your rig. Think, lockers, armor and potential body damage as you go over rocks. I've ripped off a few fender flares on this trail. Diffs, control arms, skid plates will also see lots of action.

But, this is al lot of fun for a prepared rig with lots of driver challenge.

Comms: GMRS 20 Ham 146.460

I have very fond memories of the club dragging my stock 1st gen 4runner through this trail eight or so years ago. I didn't have sliders even. I ended up with a nice dent in the door sill and door on the drivers side but otherwise came out unscathed. If memory serves, I needed to get tugged through I think... only one obstacle? That was thanks to the club members who actually knew what they were doing and spotted me through the whole trail.

Wish I could make it! Lots of great memories there.

Ha, I remember that. You were on a mission to complete that trail and had a great attitude. Wish you could make it again. We camped near the trailhead that time.

Interested if the weather is good. I'm too old to wheel in the cold and snow.

Who am I kidding... I never liked wheeling in the cold and snow...

What are the minimums for this run? I used to run it in my built first gen with no problems. Now a 98 4runner on 33's with factory locker. Has sliders and skid plates. Haven't run it in probably 6 years

Perhaps that's why I don't remember you on a snow run. But, I swear we have run Chinaman's before. I know we have had some good runs together over the years. I hope you can make it.

Sounds like you meet the minimum requirements to me. Especially if you've ran it before, have driver skills and know your rig. That's how I ran it for years. In fact, that setup will make it for more of a fun challenge for you.

Hmm would you recommend doing this without sliders? I have locker and full skids now and I should have bumper and winch installed by then.

Ha! No, you haven't seen me on a snow run... In fact, the 25th looks really cold. It makes my old hands ache just thinking about it. :ROFLMAO:

I think you're right about prior Chinamans runs, though.

Figured that was the case. Hopefully very soon :D

Edit: actually looks like they are on sale from 4xI for 315 right now and in stock. I'm pulling the trigger!

Looks like the weather could get iffy on Friday.

Question…how would you compare this trail to Holy Cross? I can’t believe I haven’t done Chinamans!

I’ll have to do Chinamans at some point. Holy Cross was brutal and costly :)
