@Brucker it can be a lot of fun see how genetics will play out in a dog and how they look and behave. I would never have guessed Great Pyrenees and now all I can see is dobe!
I still do not see or understand the Great Pyrenees, but the Doberman really stands out. Both in personality and in looks. Really makes sense now that is isn't the best hunter and doesn't rely on his nose... I will enjoy watching him as he fully matures. Never had a dobie before, but always been a fan.

I do really miss the hound traits. So I am sure we will end up with one again. But for now, 2 pups are definitely enough.

Doberman really stands out

My dad had two Dobermans when we were living in Romania. A mother and daughter prior to me being born through idk exactly when. Maybe till I was about 7 yo.

They're amazing dogs based on my early life experiences.

Not sure how old I was, maybe 3 yo, but I'd gotten away from my mom and I was crying somewhere. My parents were searching for me and all of a sudden I stopped crying. When they finally found me, the doberman mother of the pair was sitting with me licking my face. I had stopped crying and I was laughing because of her. I love dogs since I can remember anything else.

Our sweet Tala didn’t really resemble a Golden retriever at all lol I still need to get an embark done on Indy, his parents were both embarked and based on their test results he should be around 30% grey wolf, 20% malamute 20% German shepherd and the rest husky. Whenever I get around to texting him I’ll have to post up the results!

Is supermutt a recognized AKC breed?
As per Embark:

We analyzed Leroy’s breed ancestry by comparing his DNA to our reference database of 350+ dog breeds, types, and varieties. His DNA shows that he belongs to this special category reserved for dogs with unique ancestries.Because Leroy descends from other mixed-breed dogs, some of his DNA comes from breeds in his distant past. Over time, that amount of DNA may become too small for us to attribute to any one breed. We classify this DNA as “Supermutt” (though we can tell you some of the breeds that are likely part of that “Supermutt” percentage). We believe that this is the most scientific and transparent way to report the complexity of this ancestry.

His 3 main heritage supermutt breeds are kinda surprising as well. They are Russell Terrier, Chow Chow, and Australian Cattle Dog.

I've thought about gettinga DNA test for Riley. (this is when is was still a pup). We were told she she is black lab/Great Dane. While I can see both attributes in her, I tend to think there is more. How much do the DNA test run?

The other part of this picture that I thought was funny was I adopted Riley the weekend before everything shut down for Covid. This was her first picture. While I was announcing my new dog, I got more comments on the case of TP on the side.

I think I paid around $150 for the embark breeder+health test I think you can get just the basic breed test for like $100

Received Pepper's DNA results back this evening. We got her from a local lab rescue who brought her here from Arkansas (she was in a kill shelter) but they didn't know anything else. We knew she was a mix, but not what or how much. And since we were getting one for Leroy, we did a second one for her.

I guessed she was mixed with collie. My wife thought she was mixed with a brittany or collie or both. We were wrong.

Lab and Australian Shepherd.

Ms Pepper is lounging on the couch with me under a blanket. I came down with a bad cold just in time for the frigid weather. So instead of working, I am hiding on the couch watching NFL playoffs. She has been nice enough to keep me company.
