Andy, if those lug nuts are tight the wheel studs are nowhere near long enough for that wheel.
I tried to find longer studs but couldn’t when I redid the brakes.
I bought some extended acorn lugs
They are essentially like the stock lug nuts.
you just can’t see how deep they go because they are covered.

You may need to do a little searching but get longer studs...friend of mine went from steel to aluminum beadlocks and had the exact same thing going on. Thankfully we found it and were able to keep it together long enough to finish a trail after 5 out of 8 had snapped off.
his is trailer only so I wouldn’t want to see that happen on the road.

New tires on the lexus. 275/75/18 Duratracs. Ready for winter.
Speaking of Duratracs, my son just installed a set on his 92 with FJ Cruiser rims to replace his bald BFG's. Turned out real sharp.

Pretty technical work that I did to the 40, but after years of weather and abuse, I replaced the tail light lenses. Ordered from Stevenson on line for a better deal than the club discount, cheaper than the other on line vendors. The gaskets were more expensive than the plastic…

Finished the 3” icon lift 2 days ago. Even with the worn out, undersized procomp shocks the ride is better than it was..just slightly more floaty since I haven’t reconnected my front sway bar. Slight drivers lean so I’ll be swapping out the front 10mm ds spacer for a 30mm eventually.
But coincidentally and of course I got a cel for p0171 on my first test drive🤦🏼‍♂️

Finally solved my P0300/P0304 on the 3rd Gen 4Runner. When a new ignition coil didn't solve it I took a look at my records and found that the spark plugs had 60k miles on them. New plugs (and wires for good measure) and she purrs like a kitten. (y)

Tore into front end of the 40. OME kit in progress (rear axle done). Front needs axle service and brakes too but got the springs swapped today. Couldn't get the steering stabilizer off. Ordered proper puller and going to rebuild steering box. Decided I might as well order all new tie rod ends along with the steering and brake parts... Kind of snowballing, but not unexpected. 😉

I thought the spring compressors would be the sketchyist part of swapping out a shock... went ahead and used one of the compressors as spot to stick a c-clamp! Brought the Wayne County style to Lakewood! Thanks @DomOfTheDead for the use of tools, ideas and space! You would have made a great witness if things went pear shaped!

I'm getting closer to having the 70 FJ40 on the road. Installed the 3-speed and t-case I recently picked up from @tancruiser and started the engine I bought from @justin4045. Fired right up and sounded great. Installed the rear brakes Saturday afternoon and started tearing into the front end yesterday. Driving around the block is the goal for next weekend!

Gave the bumper a touch up to get through through winter.

Thinking both will get sand blasted and raptor liner next year.

With supervision from @DomOfTheDead and @J1000, I replaced the front output inner seal on the 4runner. A few messes were made and cleaned up and I lost a metal spring that was on the end of my fluid pump hose in the transfer case. I thought a simple project became a multi-day event real fast. When I started to drain the t-case for the second time to start the process of taking it out and splitting it open, I thought "why not just pull the plug completely and hope it flushed it out and damn the mess"! It facking worked and I didn't even have to drain the entire case! Refilled the fluid and was able to drive off without disassembling the whole thing! Had a nice double stout when I got home to celebrate the relief of that little snafu!

Rebuilt my master cylinder with a new piston, cleaned the reservoir out, and installed shiny new Slee brake lines to replace my stock ones which had some cracking in the sheathing. Flushed with Toyota fluid. No more two pump pedal, much firmer pedal all around and stopping power is significantly improved.

I didn't replace the booster motor at this time, it's running within spec and it's an expensive part. I did inspect my motor connections and they were rust free - cleaned and dielectric greased. I timed my booster at under 30s so now it will be interesting to see how many miles I get out of the OEM unit.

New tires, alignment, some worn out steering components replaced and a free oil change (synthetic). Also got a new phone. Okay, this was over my weekend- so not today.
