This is essentially a brand new 1983 FJ40. I don't know if it's worth $35K, but damn, I want this.

1983 Toyota FJ40
$ 35,000
Listed 4 hours ago in San Diego, CA

This is your opportunity to get your hands on an amazing FJ40. I was planing to use this car as a farm truck in my land in Colombia. Then, decided to do some work on it, which then turned into a full frame-off restoration which turned into a very expensive project with every bolt and piece in the car replaced for new or OEM when available. After investing all this money, I decided I did not want this to be a farm truck anymore, especially when I’ll be able to enjoy it only the few times a year I visit Colombia. I decided then I wanted to bring it to the US until I was hit with the reality that I live in California and registering an 1983 FJ40 here will be close to Imposible. I then decided to bring it, sale it in another state and start all over again with a 1975 or older. This is not your typical car from South America coming here just for a profit. This was my personal project and I did not cut corners on the quality of the work I wanted, this car was rebuilt with love and dedication over a 9-months period. It really hurts to have to sell it and I wish there was another way to bring it here and keep it. driving this thing is a truly unique experience. Just to name some of the work done: - 80% of the body parts are new, not resurfaced or just painted, - new radiator, alternator, carburetor, - brand new air condition system, - new electrical wiring hardness, - custom made center console from 80 series - new tires and original fj40 wheels - power steering -5 speed manual transmission - rebuilt engine with all new hoses and gaskets. - all new brake system - new OEM radiator - new suspension - new upholstery - new battery, distributor and ignition system - classic 9000 lb warn winch - new stereo with Bluetooth And many many more. If you are interested, contact me. I will be responsible for bringing the car to the US and the importation process. No, I won’t ask you for money at front.

A Colombian truck would be a hard pass at 35k for me. In emissions areas of Colorado, you won’t even be able to pass visual inspection so you couldn't even get collector's plates for it. Plus they are almost never what they present in pictures. It’s amazing how many rich land owners were going to restore their trucks blah blah blah, only to sell them here shortly after.

Well this is something... I guess it would be like the old Mercedes diesels where it is just about unstoppable.

I am gonna keep a close eye on this...could swap the seats with my 100 leather which are showing their age and contemplate a 2uz swap into the 80. Any idea what something like this goes for on copart?
Its hard to say. I've seen them go for $3k+ before fees in that shape.

Thought this was an honest buy for 8k. It’s not triple locked. If I didn’t have my pos I’d buy it 🤷‍♂️
Trade for Volvo 240s? Seriously?
