I inquired about the issues and this is the response i received.
1) Steering fluid leak
2) Vibration and noise while driving
3) valve cover leaking
4) leak between engine and trans
5) exhaust leak
6) battery
Came out to about $750 when I got an estimate
$750? What shop are they using? That is a great price for just fixing #4!

If those were street legal in CO I would absolutely have one as a non highway daily. Love small cabover trucks.

I should probably stay off the Australian Facebook marketplace with 105 being legal to import next year.

They are legal in colorado you can title and register it as long as it's 25+ years old. I've seen a few on the roads with Colorado tags. And I've seen plenty of Kei vehicles on the road with proper plates.

I will let my wife know you were the one who corrected me when she asks why one is in our driveway in a few weeks.

That bill didn’t pass. Was it introduced later at some point maybe?

This is essentially a brand new 1983 FJ40. I don't know if it's worth $35K, but damn, I want this.

1983 Toyota FJ40
$ 35,000
Listed 4 hours ago in San Diego, CA

This is your opportunity to get your hands on an amazing FJ40. I was planing to use this car as a farm truck in my land in Colombia. Then, decided to do some work on it, which then turned into a full frame-off restoration which turned into a very expensive project with every bolt and piece in the car replaced for new or OEM when available. After investing all this money, I decided I did not want this to be a farm truck anymore, especially when I’ll be able to enjoy it only the few times a year I visit Colombia. I decided then I wanted to bring it to the US until I was hit with the reality that I live in California and registering an 1983 FJ40 here will be close to Imposible. I then decided to bring it, sale it in another state and start all over again with a 1975 or older. This is not your typical car from South America coming here just for a profit. This was my personal project and I did not cut corners on the quality of the work I wanted, this car was rebuilt with love and dedication over a 9-months period. It really hurts to have to sell it and I wish there was another way to bring it here and keep it. driving this thing is a truly unique experience. Just to name some of the work done: - 80% of the body parts are new, not resurfaced or just painted, - new radiator, alternator, carburetor, - brand new air condition system, - new electrical wiring hardness, - custom made center console from 80 series - new tires and original fj40 wheels - power steering -5 speed manual transmission - rebuilt engine with all new hoses and gaskets. - all new brake system - new OEM radiator - new suspension - new upholstery - new battery, distributor and ignition system - classic 9000 lb warn winch - new stereo with Bluetooth And many many more. If you are interested, contact me. I will be responsible for bringing the car to the US and the importation process. No, I won’t ask you for money at front.
