That 40 could be improved instantly by removing those wheels/tires and adding some steel wheels and pizza cutters. :thumb:

edit:

and flipping the bezel

and adding a gas cap

and adding oem front turn signals

Yeah Martin, it's mostly a decent stocker but the seller (I assume) tried to do a hasty "improvement". My guess is the guy isn't really that familiar with FJ40s and thought it needed something to justify the asking price. There's some gray paint on the front frame horns that is very poorly done, the wheels and tires of course. It's not the worst rust but the rear sill is toast.

I didn't see anything that would be irreversible and it seems solid otherwise. It's stock underneath except for those 1970s shocks with helper coils on them. The running boards are there and not bent. Seats and interior generally seem fine. If only Cruiser prices weren't stupid.

I didn't lift the hood, so no clue on the engine. It's floor shift and has a B&M (I think) shifter. I didn't think to check any further.

BTW, this is located in Ft. Collins, near Prospect and Lemay.

Question - these are listed at 120 lbs from ARB. Are they really that damn heavy? I'm in the market but don't want to strap a boat anchor to my roof. The baja standard rack is only 60 lbs, as a comparison.

If it's a steel version, then yes, it is that heavy. The mesh flooring adds a bunch of weight and creates drag and wind noise, as well. Sold mine years ago and haven't missed it one bit. YMMV

Its labeled "winch" but they look more like cable locker controls.

I was thinking perhaps also something to do with a PTO, but cable lockers make more sense. Either way they're on the wrong side to be of much use on a right hand drive truck. Putting winch or locker controls under the passenger seat seems, well, British. "Pardon sir, if you might engage the rear locker at your convenience I would be greatly indebted to you."

:lmao: and if I had that truck, that is exactly how I would say it also.
