I was just going to post the one in Wyoming
Hope someone in the club ends up with that one
Looks like a great deal compared to all the over inflated 40s you see

Not even sure I'd pay that for Slee's, and it was so well done it looked like a factory option.

But price aside, definitely a cool project that I'm surprise is being passed on after so much work with so "little" left to be totally finished.

Looking at the Craigslist ad a little more, it seems like this guys is making a huge mistake not finishing it before sale - I think with the entire cab being the same white, as well as the bed being painted white with a nice block letter Toyota across the tailgate, not only would it look pretty awesome --- but his asking price would seem way less far fetched. Still too high IMO, but he'd definitely sell it for a LOT more than he'll get like this.

I wonder what it'll end up selling for.

I kinda like it, but I think he's crazy on the price. The thing I don't like are the lines. The 80 is soft and rounded, but the bed is very squared off like a 70. I don't think it looks natural. It looks like two vehicles mashed together.

Hey guys, this is my truck. I understand it seems priced high, but this is more of a "feeler" for me(also posted on mud). I am not entirely sure I want to let it go but my lifestyle here in SC is definitely not the same as it was while i lived in CO. As my 4 children get older, they demand more and more of my time, which we all know is precious. Maybe I should have started a build thread and cataloged the steps it took to get where this truck is for a little more context.

So this was intended to be a ground up build, addressing issues along the way. I started out with a nice 80 that when I bought it had 198k miles on it, with the HG already done. I bought elocker axles from another forum member on RS and COMPLETELY rebuilt them, aside from the rear calipers, which includes pulling all shafts and diffs, inspecting the diffs, cleaning and repainting the axle housings, replacing ALL seals with new OEM, to include rebuilding the front calipers with new OEM seals and rotors, new 80 series specific OEM AISIN hubs and new OEM extended brake lines. The suspension has J springs all around, see caster plates, and 1 inch poly spacers all around (for adjustment later on if there is too much rake after any armor/winch etc.) I have a brand new in the box set of L shocks ready to go on. I also have all the ARB panhard rods, and upper AND lower rear control arms installed.

On to the body... The rear panel was not just a slap on selection from any truck sitting in a yard, I waited until a rust free 1976 hilux was available with the solid rear glass panel became available that I could chop the panel out of. I had the rear panel welded on by a reputable shop in CO before i made the move to SC. And ordered OEM weatherstripping for the rear window to be reinstalled (have an extra one too for after paint). I also worked on welding in captive nuts to the interior to reuse the rear 80 series stainless/chrome metal piece to hold in the rear panel interior carpet (look closely, you'll see it). On to the outside, not pictured on CL but on mud are the cab vents, these were also reused from the same era hilux to provide ventilation and a clean look (this also took time to formulate a plan and cut the holes just right). It also has the TJM bull bar bumper on it.

Now on to the bed. The bed is all 1/8 steel, heavy duty by production vehicle standards. there are around 6-8 cross C channels and two main channels resting on the frame. I took this truck to a very reputable utility contractor in SC that does any work form basic utility beds, to full on custom semi trailers, and I think the bed turned out very nice. I installed BRAND NEW OEM 40 series tail lights, and wired them up professionally as well (solder, heat string, tape etc.) Also note the lower line of the bed is aligned with the side indentations of the body line, this was no mistake or happenstance. Townsend had it spot on for my plan, all one color, TOYOTA sign on the back and a good bed liner and this thing will be cherry.

I have the rear fenders, that still need to be stretched to look and function right, the TJM vendors protection bar and side step kit, and winch plate. the only thing really holding me back is dealing with the fenders and finding someone who i am comfortable with doing the work and keeping everything straight. Once they are done, it really only needs paint. edit: and a windshield...

If anyone has any questions or interested in any tips, pics, etc, feel free to ask. Other than the price, i hope y'all like the "goat"

I like it. Would have been even better with an extended cab! :thumb: "Skeletor 80" :perry:

Edit: For the uninitiated who are not familiar with the 4 Runner/flatbed hybrid known as Skeletor:
