I helped out a guy on ironclads that had a Mercedes diesel swap in his bright orange 4runner with full width axles. From north Colorado area I believe.

The diesel motors they run in the unimogs are the same ones they run in the 4 door sedans. Great motors but it was a tight fit in his runner. Radiator fan ate through the upper radiator hose. I gave him a roll of electrical tape and a couple gallons of water and followed him to the road. Sounded/performed pretty awesome.

was it a younger kid? might be who i bought a 22re from

I'm calling it Central American & likely full of Bondo. I've never seen a diesel rig come out of the Middle East, due to low fuel costs for gas.

I very much concur. Also, SF rear axles were common on 45s in central america.

My biggest issue is $25k for a car whose pictures have more filters than a thirteen year old girl's Instagram selfie.

FZJ80 Bad Smog Breath

Yep! Bought one a few weeks ago from a dealership, and then the damn thing wouldn't pass emissions. So now the hunt goes on!

I bought a 1994 80 and am also battling the CO Smog test. Here's the the number for the EPA-303-364-5334 evaluation place. It's free and may help you dial in your problem/solution. I have spent a chunk chasing this problem with no joy as yet. Next up will be pulling the TB and the intake plenum for a thorough D&C. Waiting on parts... Mud has several threads on this that may be of help.
