is that was (not was)?
Yes, that is Don Was who created the Detroit R&B band Was Not Was that was at its peak in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Matt Farr, Suzie and I saw the band in the bowling alley just across the parking lot from the Gothic Theater in 2009 where they had been booked to play. Poor publicity for the gig resulted in about 75 tickets being sold for the theater so the bowling alley’s bar became the venue du jour. Suz hung out in the band’s tour bus for about 20 minutes before the show while I was inside the bar “warming up”. Undaunted by the poor ticket sales, the band put on a supercharged show and we wound up drinking at the bar with half the band after the show. Unforgettable memory. Don Was has gone on to become one of the most in demand pop music record producers and is currently the President of Blue Note Records.

Aren’t those being reintroduced as an EV? If memory serves, they’re to be produced by Rivian

Yes. Scout is being reintroduced into the US market. It’s not Rivian, but VW group. They are offering a four door SUV, and a four door pickup, with electric and electric+generator options.

From the website: “American-born and American-built, Scout vehicles will be engineered in Detroit, built in South Carolina, and backed by the manufacturing and production expertise of Volkswagen Group”

I’ll have to give Zaz Turned Blue when I next turn the stereo on. Listened to What Up, Dog? last night! On vinyl, of course. 👍

At the Evergreen Safeway on Saturday. The flat, S shaped rear leaves were typical for a SO. Looking underneath it had a V8 and Auto Tranny. Oddly the front axle appeared to be a D60 but the rear axle was stock. The rear 3rd was pointed up at the back of the T-case. I thought it was interesting to have such a tall rig but no armor.

Are the wheels in focus while driving or is this how the camera blurred the wheels because the tires look blurry but the wheels look crisp? Cameras are pretty crazy these days and the wheels are very 90s era looking with the teardrop design.

Edit: on second glance the lugs are in focus so this must just be the actual wheel design.

Getting so rare to see 40s out in the wild these days.
It’s funny that right after you posted this I saw one in the wild near Bowles and Santa Fe yesterday…
