Remoted the HAM speaker to the front dash. Look ma no wires!

This is the Midland 21-406 and it fits. You will need a small rat tail file to elongate the holes a tiny bit and the wires need to be orientated up as the opening is slightly offset with a larger gap at the top.

It is made in China but I bought mine from Camelot on their last day before closing down so I guess that is a wash.

I repeat...

:thumb: :thumb:

Lookin' good Mike!

Installed the Deka 31 and a Deka 78 AGM batteries today (for the winch). I was suprised just how small the 78 is and how big the 31 is! All my silver parts are back at the powder coater getting redone. The clear was coming off in sheets. I started rewiring the OE fuse block for a CDS fan but I need to figure out what those big round things are and if I should add one. There is a spot for the CDS fan fuse and I assume the round thing is a relay.

Correct. When ordering one of the big round things for the CDS I can tell you the it is the same round thing that is in the EFI socket. Not that I have any knowledge or reason to know such things.....

BTW.....I have heard that copying someone else is the greatest form of flattery! ;)

Nice and clean -- well done.

Is the new speaker you put in there substantially better than the old Toyota one? I just used the OEM speaker for my Ham remote, although I used the one over by the glovebox.

A new OE would probably be the same or better. Both are 4Ω. When you compare a new speaker to one that is dried up, cracked, and blown, the new one sounds much better. I did find that it needed to be burned in. I used white noise at low volume for about 12 hours to brighten it up. When I first plugged it in, the bass and treble was muddy.

Cool. Funny that speaker was blown. Mine was in decent condition.

Do you have a CD or MP3 of white noise?

Ham radio with the squelch or FM/AM off band works fine. I do have a CD with white noise though.

I thought about the Sienna version but I liked that this was a universal installation. The Ham is temporarily mounted until I can find a sub tank overhead console.
