Wow, that's more than the tank.

I have an email in to John for some gray ones....we'll see what he comes back with. He has an order for me getting finalized now of stuff that was screwed up on my first order and/or missed the pallet so we should be able to get stuff in a moth or less.

I thought my pads needed replaced so I picked up some cheap ones. Went to change them and the tire was covered with brake fluid....not good. Took the tire off and metal shavings everywhere! In case you didn't know, an 80 series pad can pass right through an 80 series caliper if warn down. I was stopping on the caliper and piston! Headed to Christo's for some rotors and brake lines. Will have to get a new caliper from Toyota. The best part of Toyota quality is that we took the angle grinder to the piston and put it all back together and drove home.

I also went down to Hensley and picked up a series 78 Deka AGM and installed it. The battery is a lot smaller but it cranks the 80 over about as twice as fast as I remember.

same thing happened to me on the rear...brake fluid on a hot rotor makes pretty smoke! :)

Started working on the new leather. A door and the armrest. I was going to gather the leather but decided to keep it smooth. Looking at the first pics, I need to go wrap the leather around the door edge. Whoops...
Blue stitching!

Fixed the driver's side window that refused to go back up when it was cold outside.

The regulator was broken and is only available as an assembly. At $95.00 it gave me a good chance to see what a good one is supposed to be like. There is no play between any of the pivot points and the spring is 20times stronger on the new one. If you can source a new window spring, hammer the rivets of all the pivots, and assemble with clean tracks, I would guess that is all that is required to make these new again.

The motor and brushes were really dirty so that got taken apart and cleaned. I polished up the armature with a red 3M scotch bright pad and reassembled. The only grease I could find that shouldn't get hard when cold was some Mobil 1 syn so I threw that in. The brushes looked fine and still had some life left in them.

I cleaned the window tracks and relubed them with silicone. I also added some sound deadening to the door and that made a big difference. The door feels like it should now without the bounce back twang it had since I bought it.

Mine is just slow as well side note on the Rubicon Run little sluice I believe there was a pop noise which was the spot welds on the bottom of the track, both sides gave way when full droop and full compression was achieved at opposite corners

Update on the Ptarmingan

I lost the pads on the rear brakes and was stopping on the caliper...burned through the rotors and had to replace the calipers. Made a few calls and stopped the Mountain High Performance to have a load Cryo-ed. Slotted and cross drilled rotors from Christo, a new set of American made drill bits, and some left hand drill bits and extractors made in PRC :(, all got frozen.

I also have been working on the new leather and went to the source for a real set of hog ring pliers. $65.00 out the door, not Chinese made, and should last well beyond just this set of leather.

The brand is C.S. Osborne, Harrison New Jersey.

The speaker is remote, there is a jack on the back for an external speaker. As an added bonus, the rear passengers can still hear the stock one. I am putting the CB and HAM speakers in the dash so no extra stuff cluttering up the interior.
