We had a couple of request to have one thread. I look at moving it back.

Day two...

I'll start the Day2 report with an APRS map of the route. OH..and stay tuned on how nice the APRS/Ham/Text messaging is when your smog pump seizes and several folks are 50 miles away and out of cell and ham(voice) range.

That is cool when you can track the route.

Been going to bed early the last few nights since haven't been sleeping well. Will get back onto the posting tonight. Slacker I know...

The APRS stuff is super cool; I'm more intrigued every time I hear about it or see a map. I need to learn more....

VERY cool. I was blown away with the two APRS rigs on the trip. I will put one in my 60 once I get the 1HZ in it.

Back to the pics. Guess my post trip report thread is stuck on the live from thread. Oh well.

Descending down into Mills Canyon. Turned out to be an unexpected awesome.

Crossing the Canadian Rive, first of many crossings. Mills Canyon was a fun place to explore and relax. And on a side note, the Santa Fe trail crossed the Canadian River at one point, though a bit further north than where we were at.

Proved to be a good spot for lunch. Oh, and a great spot for camp (more on that later).

A nice shady spot for lunch.
78.jpg

After lunch a few of us went out exploring the depths of Mills Canyon. "Base camp to explorers".

We got pretty far down the canyon before getting distracted and doing other stuff. Never did find the cave that was supposed to be down there per the rancher we came across outside Folsom... Fun to do a little evening/night wheeling.
81.jpg

Sean got a flat. 10 plugs later and he made it to Springer, NM.
82.jpg

Enjoyed a lot of this that evening:cool:.

A few of us took a midnight walk to check out the old ranch house close to camp. Fine night for a stoll:).

The road looks like it goes through on the map. Felt bad telling the group no (originally had it planned to camp near Cimarron). A good reason to get back I guess;).

The back way into Wagon Mound.

Wagon Mound. Sean and Dan S took off for Springer so Sean could get his tire fixed, we would meet them in Black Lake later on.

Turkey mountains in the distance. The Diamond A is back against them. Great grandfather Leon E. Williams bought the spread from the Thatcher brothers. The ranch originally spread from Wagon mound to Pueblo, Co. Grandpa was a foreman and my dad and Uncle grew up there.

For those that were not able to enjoy the drive with us.... It kinda got OK from here.

Here's mine from Day 3....

After Sean and I rejoined the group in Angel Fire (I didn't take any pics of the Vietnam Veterans memorial, but it's very cool if you haven't seen it) we headed out, and these pics start once we hit the dirt....

About this time, Shawn and I kept the two 60s together for photo purposes. Seriously, some of these photo spots made us act like kids in a candy store!

As of a few moments ago, all of my caliper bolts have been removed, cleaned and reinstalled with Blue Loctite, :thumb: except for the DS front, that still has Taos Offroad Performance http://www.taosoffroad.com/ Red! :o
